I still see striking similarities in the early 90s Fergie sides development and this one. Won an FA Cup, won a Euro trophy, strengthened the side, challenged but fell just short in the league through fixture pile-up and injuries. Leaving aside style of football (which until yesterday no one had much of a problem with bar the 2nd half of Soton), the thing that got that side over the line finally was Cantona, because of his mentality, arrogance, call it what you will, but mostly his ability to turn a game with a piece of magic. I said it yesterday and I think it becomes clearer in the big games- we still need that final piece.

I've criticised Griezmann's form recently but he looked good against Barca yesterday. Or at least the part of the game I watched.

That was hard to watch. We Jose'd the shit out of them. There was two busses. Two Double Decker Buses! Playing Football the Tony Pulis Way
Masterclass in tactics.

Still pissed off at the game. I can understand that sometimes there's a need to change tactics and play defensively. What I dont understand is why we decided to do so yesterday. It wasn't necessary, go a goal up then sit back all you like but dont go into a game with that god awful mindset of "let's play for a draw" from the get go.
Can't get my head around Mourinho's thinking. You don't see city or spurs (supposedly our two main rivals this season) approaching games with one point in mind. You're not always going to get three points but you at least try to make it look like you want them.
Most of the time Jose is spot on, but there are times where I've even asked myself "what the fuck are you doing". His use and choice of substitutions is one area that I've found mind boggling at times.

A point away at that shithole is always a decent return, many have pointed out that 'form' goes out the window in this particular game.
We're 2 behind City
We're 3 ahead of Spurs.
We're 7 ahead of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.
We've conceded 2 goals.
We've scored 21 goals.
It was a shit game, if that's how it pans out in every other away game against a rival for the League then we'll all not be too happy, but as it stands right now I don't think we can be too disheartened with how things are panning out so far.

Still seething. Still not buying this 'form goes out the window in these games' and the rest of that crap either.
I'm a defender and appreciate top class defending as much as anyone but Manchester United going out to draw any match especially against an inferior team is unacceptable in my eyes. It's different if you go out to score then defend, but we didn't even try.
Don't know if it was entirely down to the manager or in part the players. Matic looked knackered, Herrera was awful. Mkhitaryan as I have already said was pathetic. I'm done with him to be perfectly honest. Said it when we signed him, he's lightweight and mentally is a shirker. Fuck off. Says a lot that I prefer Lingard, at least he'll run and fight for you.
Ashley Young as right winger was suggestive that it's mostly Mourinho though.
Feels like a loss.

Draw is better than a loss but this feels like one. Don't think the international breaks helped as a few looked knackrred but then the vermins lot played during the break as well so a poor excuse really. I lay blame at all parties. The players were pathetic, Jose's tactics were pathetic and the fact he left Mata on the bench was pathetic. As for Mikki, I've said all season on his day he's class but people are using stats so filter over other areas, mainly his inability to not lose the ball. Lukaku is shouldering a lot of blame which I think is unfair. Other than the shot he should have buried there wasn't much else he could do.

Also people go on about us only being "2 points behind city". Granted we are and its very early days but if we keep approaching away games like this against then it won't be long before it'll be a lot more.
A good job really its this early into the season and the points aren't vital.

If both Spurs and city get a win at Anfield without a Scouser giving them a helping hand by getting sent off then I will reconsider my view that a point was a good result. Arsenal got pistol whipped only a few months ago.

If we're still playing shite football (which, really has only been for a game and a half) after we've played Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal by the time December has just started then I'll be a little bit concerned. Points count the same now as they do in any week though, so not sure what you mean by that

Come the end of this month and spud and chelsea have been played i very much doubt that gap will be 2 points i think it may well be 6 or so i cant see him changing the way we play in them types of games. last year i could see jose not wanting to get beat but this year fortunes have been spent hes got his team and he realy should of trusted the lads to go out and win,

That fucking LB spot needs sorting too. Shaw can do one for all I care now, if he can't get in ahead of Darmian or Young then he's fucked.

In some ways the point was a good one, but only because we kept them from scoring and not because the result was actually a good one.
