Mate. I think if this was the title of the original thread it wouldn't have been an issue. In general, to answer your question, we don't tend to have loads of potential new manager/peanut gallery threads of such fine ilk as the Keano abomination so that's probably why you missed it on the way in. Please feel free to place the praise you deem necessary for Keane in here, as a tributory thread- I'm sure it will garner the necessary attention as such. Incidentally, have you considered writing a book on Keano as United manager? I mean, even as a spoof it would be worth reading to a few shattered souls around the World. I once had a similar drive and conviction about an idea - I went ahead and wrote a thesis on it. I kind of get what you're saying. So let's change the thread title?

There's no harm in a Roy Keane discussion.
But this isn't a discussion, it's just one poster copy and pasting quotes to try and prove an obsession that shows Roy Keane is the greatest man who ever lived and all the club need to do is appoint him manager and we'll win eleventy million titles and European Cups in the next 30 years.
It isn't changing anyone's minds. No one is thinking that Keane isn't the man for the job, seeing a quote from David Bardsley or Grant Leadbitter saying they liked him and then going "Actually, hang on. Maybe I might be wrong here, after all, he did get Sunderland promoted and we all know how difficult that is."
I suppose if he turns the job down we could always go for Peter Reid or Mick McCarthy.
The discussion regarding whether Roy Keane should be United's new manager is over. You think he should be. Literally no one else on this forum even remotely agrees with you. No one is going to change their mind. Banging the same drum over and over will do nothing other than convince the admins and mods that you are just on a wind up and you'll be banned.
Start a "I Love Roy Keane" website. Create a pop group called Keane (hold on, shit, there's already one. OK, call it Keano instead). Record a bunch of catchy tunes all about how lovely Roy Keane is and you'd like to walk hand in hand through a field of daffodils. Get a government grant to film a movie starring Roy Keane, it could be about a club that needs to win the title this season or it will explode, Roy can play the all action hero who gets given the job of manager and unites a rag tag group to beat the odds and deliver the title. Maybe at the end he makes out with a hot girl while dramatic music plays, then he can look at the camera and say something like "Well, this is one job I was Keane to get".

It's not about changing the minds of anyone here. Everyone is welcome to their opinions, at least so far as I'm concerned. I'm well aware internet forums are inherently filled with opinionated people who are unlikely to change their views. That's fine, people can disagree and still have a discussion - in fact, the ones where people disagree can be some of the best. It's more about opening minds of a wider audience, getting the message out there and to be fair, getting it off my own chest. I believe the media have a lot to answer for in their portrayal of Keane and it's also about setting the record straight there. The thread I put together was much more than a copy/paste job and it certainly isn't intended to show Keane is the greatest man who ever lived. He can be a bit of a cunt to be honest, just like Fergie. That is the intention of the thread, if you read it - to show Keane's character traits are a match to those of Fergie like no one else. To be fair, it's probably my fault for writing so much that the message was overlooked. Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

Quit while you’re only 4 goals behind. Don't think so mate, I'm at least 10-0 ahead on aggregate between the other thread and this one. Not one of you has given a logical rebuttal to anything here or there - though most have done a fantastic job of stonewalling discussion and ad homs. It's disappointing when the site actually has a decent Keano news article feed - I thought staff here might be more open-minded and constructive toward a club legend after the success he contributed to and the leadership/motivational qualities he brought to United, and that he still possesses. 7 Premier League titles in 12 seasons, including two league and FA Cup doubles and the treble season, none of which has been achieved outside of Keane's time at the club, and this is how you react to the suggestion he just might be a positive influence on United. I'll ask again, what sort of United forum is this? A place where supporters can't express their views about Roy Keane; the most successful captain in the club's history? The Republik of Mancunia, or the Republik of somewhere between an Admin's arsehole and a Mod's ball sack? To hell with that... Keano!!! There's only one Keano! There's only one Keano! There's only one Keano!

And here's a bonus visual conceptualisation of my thread for anyone who couldn't be fucked to read it: -
Nope
Bring him back!
Not for me. Not for Keane. For United.

Love Roy Keane. Hate the idea of him being manager. He failed that audition already.
If he goes and becomes a winning manager then he is back in the discussion.

You've made no solid arguments as to why he should be our manager at all but think you're 10 - 0 up?
You're arguments have been:
Look what people have said about him.
So what? In what universe does some players saying he was decent mean he'll be the right fit for United?
He has done well else where.
No, he hasn't. He took Sunderland up (which a lot of other managers have done in the last 20 years) then left them in a relegation battle (ditto). His performance at Sunderland was no better than a Bruce, or Poyet, etc. At Ipswich he flopped and had them a mid table Championship team. Even McCarthy has managed to improve them. Villa and Ireland? Villa were awful and ended up going down. Great work Roy. Ireland have comfortably qualified for the World Cup. Oh no, wait, they haven't.
And what you do as an assistant manager has ZERO baring on whether you'll be a good manager. See Steve McClaren, Bryan Kidd, Ray Harford and many, many others as evidence of this.
His managerial career has consisted of absolutely nothing.
He was a great player and leader.
So was Bryan Robson. Shit manager though. Incey too. Shit manager though. Bobby Charlton is the biggest legend in the English game. Shit manager though. Bruce was a warrior, nothing more than a run of the mill manager. Same goes for Hughes.
Souness was a really good player and leader, Liverpool went down the "get former great in charge" route too. Remind me how that worked out.
Even Ferguson mentioned him as manager material.
You mean the same Ferguson who hand picked David Moyes as the ideal candidate to replace him? There were a lot of reports back in the day (maybe bullshit, who knows) that he'd also ear marked Mark McGhee as a potential successor. Mark. Mc fucking. Ghee.
Most successful captain in United's history.
True that. What's most important is how he did it all by himself too. Imagine how good a captain he'd have been if he'd been lucky enough to play with Schmeichel, Stam, Neville, Irwin, Scholes, Giggs, Beckham, Ronaldo, Rooney, RVN, Cole, Yorke, Sheringham, Solskjaer. And have Ferguson as a manger. Instead of the dross he had. Oh, wait.
Other clubs have appointed former captains and won things, ergo so should United.
Completely irrelevant. This other club did this thing so we should do the same thing. Is that how football works? Barca won loads having a former captain as manager. And United won loads having someone come down from Scotland to take charge, so lets just get Rodgers then?
-----
Anyway, I'm out.
Nothing I or anyone else says will change your mind, and fair enough. This isn't 1984, we're not here to reprogram you.
You seem like an articulate enough poster, lets move into other threads and discuss other United and football related themes. As long as not every post relates to Roy Keane in some manner.

Thanks dazjoe, that's a good post and would be well placed on the other thread given the effort you made to write it. I think you have misinterpreted and/or overlooked a lot of what I said and that's something I would have been happy to chat about.
The post from ScholesEvilTwin on win percentages was a good one too and would have fit in on the other thread.
Can the Admin/Mods not see there is an appetite to have the discussion? Come on, stop being miserable. Can we not change the other thread title to "Roy Keane thread" and have it for general chat about the man?
