Martial skies the ball from about 10 yards out - Jose needs to go. Not Lingard hits the post when goal was gaping - Jose needs to go. Really Lukaku fails to control a simple pass when he's through on goal - Jose needs to go. The Rashford fucks up a 2 on 1 situation by acting a complete fool - Jose needs to go. Point. And no. No amount of Jose inspired defensive mentality entails that he takes blame for the above shitshow. If the above 4 chances fall to Sterling , Aguero , Sane , De Bruyne or Silva they're all goals. The fucking manager's got to go there and show these wankers how to score a goal now is it ? The criticisms of Mourinho's mentality are not about those chances. Twice in a few days we have lost games late on because the team have been too deep and too cautious going forward. We have failed to win games this season by refusing to get on the front foot. At 2-1, against 10 men who need to push for an equaliser, we missed, what, maybe three chances? Yes the players are to blame for that but he is the manager. He sets the tone. Mourinho's over-riding approach is pragmatism.I will blame Jose for not taking a call on Smalling. He should have either removed him or asked someone else to play his position . He should not be there at back post. If it was me , he would not be playing at all once he is injured. It's 10 on 10. Herrera refusing to play as an auxiliary right back for five minutes is unforgivable if true.Yeah let's go back to playing 4-4-2 playing the United way with ex players, kids and mid table fun all the way. Snarky sarcasm aside, playing 4-4-2 wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Mourinho would never do it though because he might lose some of his beloved 'stability'. His pragmatic approach yielded 4 gilt edged chances though mate. Chances which should be taken by those worthless lumps. Chances which would have had us sitting pretty at 4 goals or something and we don't have to criticize the manager. I did not know anything about this till now. Herrera has been pretty mediocre for the past month, to put it mildly. But insubordination to this extent is a fury-inducing betrayal. If true, of course.I am game for 4-4-2 as well. Pity that we don't have a quality right winger to make this happen.

We have had 18 month of performances like this with a couple of realy good games, jose isnt going to change anytime soon, so aslong as he is in charge this will be the football plain and simple no amount of transfers will change the way he approaches games

We need a PROPER captain , fucking sharpish. Why Michael Carrick is the official captain , only to never start, I'll never know.
We need real fucking leadership on the field because we are suffering without it.

I'm surprised people are only just mentioning Herrera's infuriating reaction (and it wasn't just him from what I could tell). Neville spotted it during the game; Jones was admirably trying to re-organise the team himself, move the defence about and cover for Smalling but Herrera (and others) fucking refused to change their position for the remaining minutes to keep shape and allow Smalling to move into a less dangerous position for an injured player.
There's Jones trying to check on Smalling's injury and then re-organise the team and half of them ignore him because they're so fucking entitled that they think they're too good to move into another position or take orders from a team mate.
Also where the hell was Jose during that? He was just sat down with his usual face like a smacked arse. Seeing as many of the United players are apparently too pig-headed and arrogant to listen to Jones, he should have stood up and barked orders to force them into it. I'm not blaming him for the defeat but holy shit, actually do some management when your team needs it.
It just brings me onto my real problem with this team and something I have ranted on about in numerous match threads. The squad is absolutely full of mentally weak, arrogant players who are all swagger and smiles when things are going well but shit the bed when they're up against it and need to pull together. Then there's the other players who are largely passive, unassuming guys too quiet/indifferent and lacking in presence to stamp their authority on the team.
So instead of players stepping up, leading the team, organising players when under pressure, driving the team back after conceding a goal and working together, we have mass panic when the opposition step up the pressure, players refusing to change position, petulant fouls, diving, sulking and sloppiness. Some of the big names in the squad are all swagger, social media and bluster with very little to back it up.

From player of the year to our current version of Schneiderlin.
Herrera needs binning off. Supposedly Barca were interested last summer so has that unsettled him? I'm sure a read somewhere that his wife spends a lot of time in Spain with family.
Either way get rid.

I hate saying it as it’s a bit Scouse but the good Utd captains would have sorted that yesterday. Keane, Robbo, Bruce, all would have dealt with that on the pitch. And if for some bizarre reason they hadn’t done, Fergie or one of his assisatants would have. Piss poor from senior players and management.

Fun fact - I was booted off my football team when I was 13 for refusing to play in midfield, I was a goalie at the time mind but still.

Issue with the captaincy situation is none of them already at the club are captain material. Hard to go out and sign a player and make him your captain instantly.
I'd say Bailly would be a contender but I still think he's too reckless and raw. After the genuine attempt to re-organise the team yesterday we should maybe consider Jones for the role but he'll probably be injured in a week or two so we'll have to find another. De Gea maybe?
I don't normally think who the captain is, is a massive deal but with how sorely we lack leaders in this side I think we need a strong one now more than ever.
