just on lukaku i can't understand how people ignore the manager he is playing under and how much that manager demands that he puts in more than goals. If he was told just score and we play to your strengths i'm pretty sure he would be on double the goals.

What a strange match! The passes for both Lukaku goals were football porn. Alexis' being so perfect I gasped. Both Lukaku goals were insane, literally never seen him look so impressive. ' Overall that was still a smash-n-grab. Huddersfield ran roughshod over our midfield and we get lumping the ball from Romero right back to them, like we were playing Barcelona. On Mata's goal and VAR, I would never in a million years advocate its usage for offside calls. I thought it was only for red card debates and questions over whether the ball went all the way in. If you can use VAR for offside you really don't need the linesmen. Ridiculous decision in any case. For me the offside rule is to prevent goal-hanging. If you are near your man, it should be fair, and the old saying of having "daylight" between the players should still be the rule. That was so comically inept in the VAR department you'd suspect them of intentionally cocking it up to have VAR ruled out. I've been semi-convinced for about two years that referees have been being deliberately shit to try and get VAR in. Huge dip in quality between about 2014 and 2016 IMO. VAR is supposed to be for potential reds, goals, and penalties I think. Goal-line tech is already in place for whether it went all the way in.

Another thing about the VAR. Whatever happened to giving the attacker the benefit of the doubt? (to promote attack and encourage goals). Fair to say there was enough doubt about that call, the VAR response should have been "too close to call, advantage Mata"

my view on Lukaku...
he has done exactly how I thought he would do in the first half of the season at his new and bigger club:
- good return on goal scoring - improving on his all round play. still room for improvement but he was never going to be the silky footed player. - scoring against the teams we couldn't score against last year - missing in the bigger games and not scoring against the top 6
we knew before we bought him that this would be the situation. if he scores a a couple in the big games in the second half of the season then its a success for him in his first year. its down to the other players to chip in more and the manager to get the system right

what also got to me was Matic staying on all games. what was the point. we have sevilla away on Wednesday and he already looked fucked he can barely run. where is Herrera ?

If Herrera is out, and McTominay can't play two matches in a week, there's always.... Swap him with Blindellaini and we're golden.
