Let's see if this one is more of a goer than the last one I did. It's International week and I'm bored. Pick 3, under any manager in order. 1. United 1 City 6 The penny dropped that the debt had caught up with the team and the majority of our best players had peaked. City were now no longer the joke. Not sure what the goal difference was that season was but those 6 goals didn't help. This game was the catalyst for a horrible season. 2. United 0 Liverpool 3 I could have picked from a long list that season but losing at home to the Scousers was as bad as you can get. 3. FA cup semi final against Portsmouth. How we didn't win that one. Could possibly had another treble that season and it would have been fully deserved. That was a fabulous team that year.

It was at OT.

I remember being really upset when we lost to Milan in the 2007 CL semi finals. Not the worst by any means, but it still stands out as particularly painful.
The one positive was I knew there was no way the scouse could beat that team again.

Boxing Day 2015 when we lost 2-0 to Stoke. One of the most disgusting and gutless United displays I've ever witnessed.

It was at OT. QF Wigan away, when we lost the title to city. Talk about this season's gutless performance but that one was simply throwing away the league when the entire team looked like it came for an afternoon stroll instead of tearing apart relegation fodder before they knew what had hit them. And then came the 4:4 with Everton when we couldn't hold a 4:2 lead with minutes to go. Why am I doing this to myself? Awful thread. fuck international football.

The EL games against Pool was worse though. Thank God for Sevilla in that final. Even Dortmund should have finished them off before it got that far.

The final weeks of the 1991 - 92 season.
I was 14. Still at school in the north east where everyone supported fucking Newcastle, or fucking Liverpool (the self same fans who then proceeded to call me a glory supporter as they tried to take the high ground because Liverpool turned shit. Yeah, I wonder what attracted you to Liverpool in the early to mid '80's?)
We hadn't won a title in 25 years and were favourites to finally win it. Leeds weren't a good team. We had better players in every position on the pitch than them.
Then, the FA fucked us over. 3 games in 5 days.
The players were shot. Robson was injured, of course.
1st up, fucking Luton Town. 1-1. Mick Harford. Mick fucking Harford, scores against us.
2 days later, Nottingham Forest at home. We lose 2-1.
Another 2 days later, West Ham away. We lose 1-0. Kenny Brown scores. Seriously, who the fuck is/was Kenny Brown??
And that was that. Endless mocking at school. Fucking heartbreak. We're never going to win the league are we? That was our one chance and it was taken away from us.
I'm 40 now and still want to go back and give that 14 year old kid a cuddle, tell him he can't begin to believe just how good it's going to get.
