Save putting this in young De Gea's thread after talking about Peter the Great, they have always classed the save against Rapid Viena on par with the save Gordon Banks made against the great Pele in 1970, both brilliant.
Schmeichel will always be my number one goalkeeper of all times and I will not change in saying that, young De Gea has the years ahead of him yet to maybe knock Schmeichel off the top. |

The thing about Schmikes is that he was imposing and intimidating...some forwards lost confidence when up against him...DDG doesn't quite have that presence but he intimidates by being utterly brilliant...you just need to put that little bit of doubt in a striker's mind... Still love that semi Final save against Bergkamp...I so remember where I was when I saw that... |

That's what young DDG has to do and maybe, later on, he will do that, the Gordon Banks save against Pele & Brazil in 1970 always sticks in my mind as I was watching that match with my old man in Australia, I didn't know much about football then as I was more into Australian Rules Football at the time but my old man was sitting there with a bottle of beer shaking his head at the save and saying "Fucking brilliant, what a save..."
Later on, when I was back in the UK and watching the Rapid Viena match on tv and Schmikes made that save my thoughts flashed back to Aussie land in 1970 and my old man saying "Fucking brilliant, what a save...", my old man had passed away 5 years before that match and I have always thought he was sitting beside me watching the match that night lol. |

Lets be honest, we all know what Peter the Greats finest moment has been, and until De Gea does something similar he cannot claim to be as good as the Dane.
I am of course talking about.
