Hopefully this lad can provide a clean slate from our Brazilian perspective, I know Anderson won a lot here and it's lovely anecdotal stuff, but I had expected more. We deserve a stellar Brazilian in our starting XI.
The twins, we do not speak of. The grief is still too near.
Excited, looks like he could provide some of that bite and forward-thinking impetus in midfield that we need.

I just hope Wilma is on board with a move to Manchester. If she's coming from the stone age, she may find Liverpool to be much closer to home.

He was a steal from Gremio.

To this day, Football Manager still plays a role in how I feel about players. I can't help it. It usually manifests in wanting us to sign wonderkids - I would have loved us to have gotten ahead of Monaco for Pietro Pellegri, for example.

It's one of the hardest things for me to understand as a United fan: why haven't we had more successful Brazilians/South Americans in United teams over the years? You'd think this club would be the perfect platform for them to showcase their skill and flair (at least until recently). I used to think it was an environment/weather thing, i.e. Manchester. However City have had enough successful South American players over the last few years to put that theory to bed. Here's hoping Fred is the start of the end of this quirk in United's history.

It really is an odd one. On paper you’d have had no problem with any of the purchases but for a myriad of reasons they haven’t worked out. Some of it has been rank bad luck in fairness, some perhaps good players but not better than what was there. Some appeared great but were actually poisonous snakes. For his overall contribution I’d have to say Tevez was the standout South American we’ve had to date. Veron, Rafa and Ando contributed significantly to trophies but we’re due an unqualified success (on the pitch). Hopefully Fred and maybe Sandro can provide it. I think the risk/reward with Brazilians is steep but if you strike gold then there are no better footballers. Not even the Germans.

We were so close to getting Ronaldinho and killing this conversation years ago as well.
