Possebon, now a sporting director, has no doubts that Fred is ready for the Premier League. “He’s a versatile midfielder, can play any position in the centre of the park, but his best role is as a box-to-box midfielder, because of his capacity to defend, create and finish. He has energy, pace and power, great technique, has good passing vision, dribbling ability and plays with both feet. He has all the attributes that one seeks in a midfielder at an excellent level.” Surely he means Kleberson? Must do, apparently Possebon now plays in Vietnam and is still only 29!

Reminds me of that horrendous pogatetz challenge he was on the receiving end of.

Must admit I've not seen a great deal of Fred, looking forward to getting a closer look at the World Cup. Providing he's a first teamer for them?

Presumably City moved onto other targets after Shaktar refused to sell in Jan? Or they cooled interest when they knew they may have competition from us? I think city were hoping they could pay significantly less than the Fred's release clause and Shakhtar weren't having it. We paid a little more and are much better today for it. Funny to see that Napoli are holding a hardline on Jorginho. Make them pay. They seem to be getting quite arsey with fees now especially considering they are haggling with Napoli for Jorginio . Trying to make a point that they will not get mugged off/thinking they are a big name now that they can call the shots or pissed that clubs aren't bending over for them ? Or trying to peddle the idea that they aren't just a cheque book club?

Not sure if it's been mentioned on here but Gab Marcotti has mentioned it is pronounced "Fredge" which will absolutely not annoy Carbs in the slightest.

Considering the track records of Brazilians at this club I find it hard to be optimistic. It's a lot of money for an unknown. From what I've seen he will bring much more energy to the side. Watch this space I guess.

Watch this space I guess. He’s hardly an unknown. He’s played in the Champion’s League on a number of occasions and is a member of one of the best International squads in the world. He’s at the same level of experience as Fernandinho was before City bought him and that turned out annoyingly well for them.

Kleberson was the only disastrous signing from Brazil. Ando, Rafa and to a lesser extent Fabio all made significant contributions to major trophies to Utd. And the twins and Possebon cost peanuts so I wouldn’t be turned off Brazilian players because of one dud.

Wouldn't leave us with much to choose from.

Just came here to say Casemiro injured Fred while both were training with Brazil. Don't know how serious it is.

Good job the signing hasn't been finalised so, can pull out of the deal if its serious.
