Thank you so much for the welcome. I love the picture in your signature. When and who by chance? That's not a picture mate, it's an artwork I found on the internet! But I thought it captured the essence of Manchester perfectly. Good to see you'll stay! Post along p.s loved your answers.

Captured the emotion of going to football back in the day very well. I remember OT like that. I thought the painting was a Lowry (almost sure it is).

He took me to a lot of games. For my 21st birthday, (1981) I got a season ticket as a present. Near the old paddock. Father and son thing, we always went together. Have been renewing ever since. Next season will be my 37th consecutive season ticket!

We lost 1-0 v Notts Forest. Stuart Pearce scored from a free-kick. I'll never forget it.

Sorry it was a loss! We never forget our first visit to OT. Going to school locally meant that I knew all the songs and could congregate with friends afterwards and try to sneak into the pubs underage. I used to listen to the older supporters talking fondly about the players of bygone eras. I really used to love the stories and anecdotes. It has much changed now of course. I was next to the United Trinity statue before our last home game and I saw Chinese, Japanese, Indian and those from many other nations pouring out of Hotel Football and into the Megastore for their souvenirs. The horrible atmosphere is the biggest problem I have with the modern OT, I miss the days when it was rocking so hard you could feel the stadium shake...

Annoyingly, this is not something that can be blamed solely on modern football. There are plenty of grounds where the atmosphere is top notch, so it can be done, but you have to believe its days are gone at OT. My first visit was 1993, and we beat Southampton with 2 goals in a minute from Giggs. Nothing wrong with the atmosphere then either, I thought I might legitimately go deaf.

I think we could fix it if we got the demographic of supporter right. That being on the proviso that we play some decent football, give the fans something to sing about. Some "United Way" football with a good winger (or two) would be a great start, it has been a while since we saw some good attacking footie at OT. Ho hum, as always, we all hope it will come good with the new season and for some teams it will.
