Genuinely anxious about tonight, God I'm tired of qualifying for the European Cup only to dread being put to the sword. Anything other than a 2-goal deficit defeat would probably be considered a success Hoping for a total shellacking. Everything is fucked anyway, more fun to be had watching the flames rise higher and spread farther. This season totally crashing and burning before the end of October will be for the greater good. The worst thing we did last season was to qualify for this.

Newcastle 3-0 up against PSG. Probably have a good chance of qualifying for the next stage while we end up in Europa.

Fair play, the barcodes have been up for this all game.
PSG have been a bit tame overall but better second half

The club has high standards now under new ownership. Amazing the difference that makes . Accountability is paramount.

2 years ago 19th in the Premiership without a win with Steve Bruce as manager. And now top of a Champions League group that includes AC Milan and PSG.
Total spend of £425m. We've actually spent closer to £500m over the same timespan.
But of course they have spent sensibly and gone for low glamour players without the attitudes that know how to play as part of a team and while their manager doesn't have the "tactical genius" reputation that Erik has he's savvy and pragmatic and has made them into a formidable outfit that are hard to beat.

What having good owners will do for your club... Saudis have not interfered one bit, and they have a competent board above the manager. As it should be.

Wouldn’t underestimate the role that the feel-good factor has played. That black cloud over Newcastle had gone on nearly twenty years. Since the Saudis come in, everything has been positivity. People were taking the piss a bit out of them celebrating tackles last night until they went 2-0 up and it became clear PSG were getting a hiding. I’d love it to be like that here, stadium was absolutely bouncing.

A new manager gives us a lift and then we all remember we are owned by the leeches and it vanishes. I know a few Newcastle fans and they didn't look at that group and shit the bed. They are stoked for every game and the atmosphere has to rub off on the players. We as supporters are just so demoralised.

Although the quality is totally different they looked at that group the same we did in 98/99. We weren't given much of a chance with that either but we went for it. On paper our players are much better than theirs. But that's where that comparison ends. On grass they play together as a team, no half arsing it, no ego's, just a squad of players playing for the shirt. Night and day compared to our lot.

I’d take their entire back 5 over our current incumbents. To a man. It’s sickens me we could’ve had Tripper for £15 million, a World Cup semi finalist goal scorer, but spunked more than treble that on AWB and Dalot.

Our incompetence could have landed us a few bargains but can't argue with that. An entire defence that work together vs whatever we can call ours. Woeful seeing ours attempting to defend.

Some of it is on the manager. Fergie and Jose had no problem organizing a makeshift defence so it didn't leak goals the way ours does.
Erik wants to play from the back and press from the front and so on and so forth. But this season we don't seem capable of doing the absolute basics.

But atm I do have a bit of sympathy for him with the players we have available. We're playing with a make shift left back, a right back that is nowhere near good enough. Lindelof has been poor so far this season aswell. All of our best defenders besides Varane are all out injured. We need Shaw and Wan Bissaka back ASAP.
