Been very lucky this year. Went to Disney World in April, then we're going to Tokyo next Saturday to go to my fiancée's best friend's wedding. THEN her parents invited us to join them in Canada for a week in October. So mad travel this year.
Aside from this year, I like to go on long weekend city breaks to great footballing cities. The two I've done are Madrid (Feb 2015) and Rome (Nov 2015), both for their respective city's derbies. The Madrid derby was mental - it was at the Calderon and Atleti won 4-0.

I want to do the last part so bad. Was it hard to find tickets? I guess for Roma - Lazio it was relatively easy as their tifosi kind of boycott the games now.

I'm off to Fort Lauderdale next year and planning a drive down to Key West whilst we're there, so if anyone has any recommendations for places to visit/eat it would be greatly appreciated. We were planning New York originally and king nothing gave me some fantastic advice, but we've been offered a condo for 10 days as a present so we've changed track now.

About a 2800 mile road trip starting and finishing in Seattle. Along the way I've booked cabins in northern Idaho and Montana, a little place at Yellowstone National Park and an Airbnb above an Irish pub in Idaho Falls! Also got 2 nights in Salt Lake City and 2 nights in Portland. Right now I'm looking for the perfect place for our final night. I want somewhere with a private balcony overlooking the Pacific Ocean on the Oregon coast and it must have a jacuzzi! For me, planning the trips is almost as fun as the trips themselves! This will be a great trip, some amazing country in there. If it is an option check out the Tetons as well. Insanely beautiful. Just got back from NY a couple days ago. I had not been in 20 years. Had an absolute blast which is not hard to do there.

For Madrid, I just went on Atleti's official website and bought them. We were right at the back but actually had a cracking view as a result. Delighted we got to the Calderon before it closed - I didn't realise at the time that they were set to move stadium. I wanted to go to the Calderon over the Bernabeu anyway, though I'd love to go to a game there as well at some point - we did the stadium tour which was great, but obviously different to going to a game. Roma-Lazio was even easier due to the boycott. It was the first of the boycotts (I didn't realise they were still going tbh) which was a shame for the atmosphere but we had ridiculously good seats right on the halfway line (not sure how as it isn't the ultra section anyway). I think we used ViaGoGo that time. I remember them trying to sell tickets in the city centre the day before, we could have just bought them then if we wanted. The trips weren't that expensive either. It was just me and a mate so one hotel room. Between flights, tickets and hotel room (usually 3 nights - fly in Friday morning, fly out Monday night) it'd usually come to under 300 Euros, and then it was probably around 400-450 overall once you added in food, the odd souvenir and maybe a tour of a historical site. The £ has taken a decent hit against the Euro since then though so it'd probably be around 500 now.

Can't wait to start doing this a couple of times a year. My dream in regards to derbies (outside United - city) is to go to a Boca - River. I know I'll do it one day!

If we're talking recent trips I did Hong Kong and Shenxhen, China in February. Hong Kong is amazing. Its the best city in the world. Shenxhen is a huuuuuuuuuuge culture shock when coming from HK. You know you're in a totally different country as soon as you cross the river from HK to China. Had fun in both. Only thing is, it's ruined homogenised, westernised Chinese cuisine for me ha!

Same here, but a) I have to get my affairs in order beforehand 'cos I'll probably get stabbed and b) it's a bit further away than Madrid and Rome! Edit: Just remembered I actually started a thread about football trips when I first joined here. republikofmanc.proboards.com/thread/25726/football-breaks

Florence was my favourite, it's stunning. Milan was cool but quite different - much more industrialised than the other cities. Their Duomo is lovely though. Worth going to the San Siro - it surprised me by how old and dilapidated it seemed, but the stadium tour was good and the game atmosphere was good as well. Never been to Turin. Would love to see Juve play.

Hong Kong is mental, so cool. Such a uniquely weird fusion of Western and Chinese culture. If anyone goes to China, don't do what 17 year old me did and try to find the nearest McDonalds. Obviously it's stupid anyway, but they also put sweet and sour on the burgers instead of ketchup.

I went to Spain once, on a coach from Manchester. 36 fucking hours.
It was about 6 months after 9/11 and I already hated planes.
