An actual proper European night. Not had one of those since Real Madrid in Fergie's last season.

Actually looking forward to this. Seem to be improving in terms of actually attacking, just not often enough atm. Probably be another tense first half and come out of the blocks in the 2nd.
Either way 3 points here is vital. Can't afford to lose this knowing we have to go to Juve and Valencia.

I really don't think we'll lose. This side has often upped their game and performed well in big games since Jose came in.
City - 2 wins, 2 defeats, 1 draw the scouse - 1 win, 3 draws Chelsea - 2 wins, 4 defeats, 1 draw Spurs - 3 wins, 3 defeats Arsenal - 2 wins, 1 defeat, 1 draw
Only Chelsea have a better record than us and even that gap should've closed at the weekend. How much better than City do we think Juve are now? Ronaldo probably gives them the edge but I think it's pretty close and if we can beat City, then I believe we can beat Juve.

If this game was played about 3 weeks ago they’d have made shit of us. But we’re heading in the right direction and I think we’ll win this one. I'm thinking we get a big result here as well. It's been coming the past few weeks imo. I just hope it doesn't take us going down 1 nil to rise to the occasion. Although not a must win, its pretty close to being one with Valencia likely to beat Young Lads. Ideally the same 11 as against Chelsea. You can see a nice chemistry forming between Mata, Martial and Pogba, which seemed non existent with Sanchez.

For all the talk of top 4 not being the most important thing and it all being about trophies (which I agree with for the most part), the anticipation for games like this really shows how important it is to get in the top 4, for me on a personal level at least.
I don't give a shit about the money associated with qualifying for it or class it as some type of achievement to celebrate. It's all about not wanting to miss out on fixtures like this.
Feels so shitty being on the outside looking in at the English sides being involved in these games when you're waiting to play the Lithuanian champions on a Thursday evening.
