We were spoiled last match, now expecting a fistful of goals every week. What we've done so far in the first half was about all we could ask for/hope to get under JM.
Our goal was not very exciting but nice to see a goal come from a corner.
They created two great chances and although we've had like 70% possession and created more, we could be down 1-2.
We are a much improved side with Mata pulling strings. He's also made numerous runs where we haven't tried to get the ball to him. Our midfield has been good, but still not convinced on Fred. I don't think it's just Fred taking time to sync with his teammates; it looks like his first touch is too loose and his accuracy or ability to read the game is not good enough, he keeps passing it to the wrong side of a teammate or straight to the feet of an opponent. Right before the halftime whistle Fred lost the ball then stood in the wrong place defensively and then allowed their forward to get behind him with unacceptable ease.
Dalot and Shaw excellent. Jones and Lindelof look good. Pogba still has a higher gear he can shift into.

Evidence again that playing on the front foot and controlling a game means you're less likely to concede chances. It's not rocket science, even though it would seem that way after the last few months.
Jones and Lindelof have been so comfortable so far. Jones once again conning us into believing he could be a reliable centre half for us before he scores an own goal and inadvertently injures Mata in the 2nd half.

Maybe it's just because he's alongside Matic and Pogba and Mata, but --- as I type this Fred just lost the ball again, held onto it too long, got stripped. I dunno, hope he comes good, hope it's just lack of minutes. |

Don't know whether those substitutions were completely necessary right now. i think both were very good subs at the absolutely right time. youngs experience will help now that huddersfield put more pressure on us. and fred doesnt seem to be strong enough, same goes for herreras experience and game understanding. good subs in my opinion |
