I disagree. Like it or not Fellaini is one of the players of the club at the moment so he should be utilized. He can be useful for certain things. Taking some burden off of Matic in a DM position would be one of those things. It's a good fit for Fellaini's strengths and he already proved previously that he decent in this position.

Pereira played one and a half matches as a DM. He wasn't bad but I'd have to see him more in this position to say that he is a better option than Fellaini for this job. Also his talents would be wasted in this position, it's the same as Herrera. I'd like to see the lad more in an attacking role.

fellaini is not even a DM.i dont know where you get that from. he was played there when we tried to defend a lead under mourinho. but he was played there to win headers towards the end of the game. his positional awareness is not enough to be played in that position,its quite obvious to see. he isnt even quick enough for that position.
while matic is also not the fastest he knows where to position himself,thats due to experience and positional awareness.

look i dont hate fellaini but the idea to play him as the main DM is one i cant take serious.

also herrera is a box to box midfielder. he even said it himself yesterday. you can want him all you like more offensive but again,its pointless. he would interfere in pogbas play. the way he was played the games under ole was a perfect fit for him. he was sitting deeper than matic but supporting the attacks while matic stayed behind to cover for the defence.

edit:i dont deny fellaini wont give it his all in that position. but its just bollocks to play him there. it was useful under mourinhos tactics towards the end of a game and even there he never played alone. we play a different system now.

TBH, if Fosu-Mensah was still here, I'd play him ahead of Felli. But I honestly can't think of any kids we could throw in.

Our academy is pretty barren when it comes to producing quality midfielders or defenders these past few years . Or at least so I feel, not sure if I'm right or wrong. Just feels as though we're lacking in these areas.

a player that thrives in that box to box position,a player that is probably our most intelligent player on the pitch,one of the few who's got the energy and determination to actually be a main asset when defending while at the same time helping out the forwards and pogba....

I wrote myself 2-3 hours ago that Herrera is a box to box. But Matic isn't and we are talking about a substitute for him. His role a little bit more limited and more defensive than Herrera's so I don't want to use Herrera in the role of Matic. He is perfect the role he is in at the moment, I agree with that.

I want to see Pereira in a more attacking role, I didn't meant to say I want it for Herrera.

I actually don't think Pereira was very good as a DM in those couple of appearances at the start of the season, but I'd rather him than Fellaini. Fellaini isn't a DM. Aside from every other weakness he has, his passing is dreadful. Nowhere near good enough to play that role certainly. And he never managed a consistent season at DM for Everton, because he wasn't good enough to play there for them either. He was largely used further up the pitch for Everton. Fellaini has his uses off the bench, for sure. But a DM he is not.
