The thing with Beckham is that he wasnt doing it for attention or a quick payday like our lot. He was building a brand and i know fergie had his issues with that but you can’t really question the results can you? Even his MLS move was massively calculated resulting in him being a star in the US and now owning a team. If anything is underrated about Beckham it’s how shrewd he is. The club itself has become a brand . Maybe Beckham was just the start of the inevitable within football? The difference is you could never argue that it affected his commitment or performances unlike some of the big time Charlies we have today.

Could've ended his career with us, wanted it but not enough. Would've made a great cm. If he'd have stayed he'd have been playing the Scholes role, pinging passes from deep.

The fans have changed as well. A culture of instant gratification and our not too distant era of ongoing success have created an environment of impatience. It's not just the players that are spoilt.

All of them are miles better than our current lot. Fucking hell I’m not sure about David May lol I would take a David May in a heartbeat. Not the most talented or the fastest in the world but could do the basics very well and always gave 100%. Also fucking loved playing here. More bottle than Smalling and less clumsy than Jones. If he was more handy at right back he probably would have kept Neville out the team longer.

I think United have one of the most patient and supportive fan bases in the world. Imagine this shit show happening in Madrid. And for 6 years !! Most of the times all we want to see is some sort of progress. With last 2 managers even that was out of reach. This forum itself is an example. Most here are happy to give Ole enough time , our collective expectations have come down from winning PL and competing for CL to having good attitude and showing a little bit of attacking flair in our play.

We have a huge fan base. Obviously it covers a variety of attitudes. I think the roller coaster of a ride we've had since Ole arrived serves to highlight our collective short fuse with players turning from heroes to villains in 8 weeks. From a squad needing two or three additions to challenge for the title we are all of a sudden in need to replace the lot, bar two or three players. I am aware that most people here are sensible. I'd hate to see some of the other places.
