I can't remember feeling as low about a new season as this in my lifetime, honestly.
In the 80's maybe but then I was just a kid, I didn't really get football as much as I thought I did. You're always positive as a kid as well aren't you.
I have absolutely no interest in watching United this season, that's how bad it has become. If I was still in Europe I would, but over here, bollocks to staying up till 3 in the morning, or getting up at 4 or 5 to watch the utter shite that is paraded about. I have better things to be doing than subjecting myself to that, like sleeping.
It has nothing at all to do with being any kind of a glory supporter either, if we were going through a hard patch but still trying to play good football, I'd stay/get up to watch the games. It's the football. I got into the game because of the love of watching and playing it. There is no love in watching this. None. Even he seems utterly bored by the football we play, and he's the one forcing it on us!
Can you imagine the team Ferguson could have put out if he'd had the funds (or the equivalent of) when he was in charge? You think he would have signed players based purely on how tall they are and how hard they are prepared to work? We'd have had Zidane. Maldini. Batitstuta. Raul. Ronaldo (Brazilian). But how good at defending corners are they, that's the important thing.
Fucking over it. Little did daz know ...

It’s hard sometimes to keep perspective on just how far we’ve fallen given we live through it every day, but this really does it. Forty to fucking one to win our own bloody trophy.

2nd,ever the optimist. I think Liverpool will have a down year and we'll sneak back to top 2. I think Pool will have a down year but I think Spurs will improve on last years. I'm kind of hoping Spurs realise they are Spurs and fall down the table a bit 😆

Us finishing in the top 4 (or better) this season reminds me of the days when I was in school and not fully prepared for an exam. I remember telling myself "if the professor asks us about subjects a,b,c and avoids challenging us with subjects x,y,z, I'll ace the test."
If Rashford and Martial score more than 20 goals, and if Pogba decides to play well at least 80% of the time, and if our defense stays fit and develops good chemistry out of thin air (because, why the heck would you just pay the 80mil in June and have Maguire for pre-season?), and if DDG returns to his 2014-2018 form, and if some of our youngsters have cracking seasons, we'll do well. I'm not a gambling man, I am not going to put my money on so many ifs. The fact that we're in this position is just unbelievable.

Gone 8th. Thought I'd be generous.
Couple of good signings tomorrow and it would change to 4th.

I think 4th. I am encouraged by our defence for the first time in 6 years. So many question marks around the rest of our team, but we wont ship as many goals. I feel more comfortable defending set pieces already.
Chelsea are shit. No attack and key injuries to worry about. Rookie manager. It's the same as us. Could literally go one of 2 ways.
Arsenal have a fantastic attack but a defence similar to ours from last year. Luiz does not help them as much as folk think. Losing Ramsey is gonna be big for them.
Spurs have made 2 great midfield signings. If they had bought Dybala I would say they would be pushing the top 2 very closely. Son is my dark horse for POTY.

There's just so many question marks about the team going into the new season. I can think of very guarantees.
Guaranteed:
- De Gea will be class. - Defence will be better than last season.
That's about it. Shaw and Lindelof should be guaranteed to perform and AWB looks a guarantee from pre season.
Question marks:
- Will Maguire take the step up and be a Van Dyke signing, or just "better than Jones" which is a pretty low fucking bar. - Will Pogba perform to his best all season, or give up and go in a strop. - Will Fred actually play like a 50M Brazilian international, or like the reincarnation of Eric Djemba bloody Djemba. - Can Matic last one last season. - Is McTominay good enough to replace Herrera. - Is Periera anything actually decent and can play a role. - Can Rashford and/or Martial take the next step into a great, 25-30 a season forward. - Can Sanchez get back to anything like his best form. - Is James more than just pace, and can prove a difference. - Are the young kids ready to play and perform. - Is OGS actually the right man to manage this side, or just someone who struck lucky for a couple of months and is out of his depth.
If all the questions turn out positive then top 4 should be a given. If they all turn out negative then we'll genuinely struggle to get top 8. If some do some don't, then fuck knows.

Calling 7th. Without injuries or sulks we are good for 5th, but some bad luck, a pulled hammy, a suspension and we are 7th. That final stretch of defeats last season is what worries the most.

We won't finish top 4. We don't have a top 4 midfield. If Pogba gets injured or downs tools again, we barely have a top 10 midfield. Fucking Watford have a better midfield than us. If Martial and Rashford step up, we do have a top 4 attack, if they don't step up, we'll be lucky to get into the European places. I've never gone into a season with such low expectations.
