I can understand why people are saying give certain key players a break, but this competition is the most important for us this season and the only hope we have of getting a CL spot.
I think we should be going all out for this

It is when he has never played there at all. And doesn't look like a CB in any way, shape or form. He's a FB end of. Fam What does a CB "look like"? That's a hit the showers type generalization. Players have roles rather than cookie cutter positions that they can adjust to with different managers or formations. Carrick was never a deep lying playmaker until he was for instance. Or Giggs at CM. AWB played as a winger and a striker before he found his niche as a full back. Asking him to read an entirely different game as a CB would not happen over night or a couple of training sessions. It would be counter productive if anything.

Or just traffic in groupthink. Anyway- Agree with the folks who say this is our best chance for CL nxt year. Don't think we're at the point where we HAVE TO go all out and rest guys but later on would advocate deference to EL over the league.

Don't think we're at the point where we HAVE TO go all out and rest guys but later on would advocate deference to EL over the league. Theres a bunch of us who played the game to differing levels, and some of the lads here have been coaches also, so sometimes 3 or 4 people disagreeing with you is knowledge based and not groupthink. I understand you believe a RB like AWB could play to the right of 3 man defence and absolutely that could be the case if we woke up tomorrow and decided that's it we are going 532. He could eventually learn the position and I agree that as an auxiliary or in emergency case of course he could play RCB. But we signed him as we needed a top RB. His history as a winger and his timing in the tackle lead many experts to agree he could be a world class RB. I understand what has been said about Dalot and he could well be great competition for him if he can stay healthy. Sadly he has been very unlucky injury wise and it is something to be concerned about. They have had him seeing experts about his hips and at such a young age there could be problems if we cannot get a handle on it soon. Going forward we need 2 options per position all across the park regardless so hopefully it can work out for him.

AWB needs to get better at going forward, playing RWB will help that Vs being stuck in at RCB

Would like to see:
Romero Laird Lindelof Rojo Williams Fred Garner Mata Lingard Greenwood Pereira
It's a pretty piss poor team, and four 18 year olds in the team might be too much, but looking at the squad I don't see much other choice. Too many other players need a rest. Could maybe give Martial a start to help his fitness, if so put him in instead of Pereira.

If we win this we’re close to winning the group and qualifying for the knock outs, which will be important when we come to January and we get replacements as suggested by the club (and hell freezes over) I don’t think you should drop a load of kids in together with that in mind so
Romero
Laird, AWB, Maguire, Rojo
Scott, Fred, Mata
James, Rashford, Martial
