This whole idea of 'respect the ref' completely fails when the referees are genuinely shite. I think the ref probably just thought it was easier to defer to VAR. That’s on the shit VAR system IMO. Anyway, even if they’re shit I still think players shouldn’t swear at them. Also VAR is fine. It's the implementation that is atrocious. |
