I mean I want to see us play today but wonder what the point of this game even is, if everything else is shutting down and maybe tomorrow all the competitions will be abandoned.

I don't know what to believe. (SPOILER: Probably not Marca.) UEFA will have a meeting on tuesday to discuss the matter , meanwhile rest of europe is closing down. Aye, just read that uefa is planning a crisis meeting on TUESDAY... 😂

Just as we build some form and momentum bloody covid 19 looks likely to halt everything, most likely resulting in us being knocked off our stride and also giving spurs a chance to get injured players back by the time it re-starts again.....😤

So let's assume pretty much all major leagues and cups/champions league/Europa league etc will be closed down. That leaves a situation that makes it obviously impossible to find a way to finish everything with a delay later on. Not that it's the most important thing right now but I was wondering: does that mean there will be no official champions league etc winners in 2020?
Even in terms of national leagues, it wouldn't make sense to to hand the trophy to the team that lead the league table before the shutdown as in some leagues the title race is wide open. Which then again would mean they can't hand the league title to Liverpool despite their huge lead, because that would deviate from the others.
Oh well...interesting times ahead. Enjoy the game today lads, might be the last time we see our team in action for a while

If Liverpool have mathematically won it then they can hand the title to them I think, but if not I don't think so. You have to be consistent with everything, and one thing you certainly can't do is relegate clubs before the end of the season when they had a decent chance of survival. So they'd have to be consistent there I think.

The resulting lawsuits from lots of clubs, in all comps, will mean everything will be postponed not abandoned.
Euros will be moved to next summer to allow competitions to finish as normal ahead of the new season.

Surely the defence is it is a case of force majeure.

Surely the defence is it is a case of force majeure. Loss of income/prize money from missed promotions, etc. Potential legal ramifications of denying somebody promotion or relegating them without a full calendar of games played. Plus the issue of refunding season tickets etc.

The gov or whomever was sued could probably argue that its in the public interest rather than a business interest to stop any events

Depends what they have written into their contracts/conditions. But it could get messy.
