That second goal was beautiful. We finally worked out how to beat their press. As well as he’s played recently I’d think about taking Matic off and bringing on Fred to match their energy and he can also bring the ball forward from deep.

We're very much prone to defensive mistakes (even, it seems, from our midfielders). We all knew that. We've made them in almost every game in this run. The defence 100% needs work.
But fuck me this attack is special. Finally starting, it seems, to pay off everything we've been hoping for since Louis was in charge. Add in a generational talent like Sancho, and it could be very fucking special indeed.
No individual is going to challenge Ronaldo, he's the greatest to have ever played the game, but we could certainly see the kind of attacking fluency we had in 2008. And sooner than we might think...

I wonder how much not having a crowd there makes it easier. After going 1-0 down the crowd would be on their backs and I'm not sure we'd be 2-1 up now. Just need Mason to grab a goal now

I fucking knew we arw going to concede from one of those fucking passes. We've been doing it for some time now. Play it from the back when it's possible, if not clear it ffs! Since we started doing that, we have never looked like a side with enough quality and confidence to keep doing it all the times. Look at city, they are brilliant at it but still make a mistake and concede every now and then. Meanwhile from our goalkeeper across all 4 defenders, not one of them looks cool and good enough on the ball to be so persistent with doing it all the time. |

Agreed on Matic (and the rest), he was never the best when pressed heavily. Fred on is a good change, would like to see Ole make it at half time (but he so rarely makes changes like that sadly). Maybe McTominay for Pogba too, but I'd hold off on that for now - despite his shocking defensive errors he can still be important for us going forward in the rest of this match. |

Just need Mason to grab a goal now In January the crowd would have been on them, as it felt like the culmination of years and years of shit being shovelled down our throats. But after the kind of form we've shown recently, our crowd would have been firing them up IMO - at least the ones that aren't silent. That reminds me - I was supposed to be at this game. Can't wait to finally get back to OT, whenever that will be. |
