Neville hit the nail on the head- this group of players did well to finish 3rd but it’s the absolute max for them in all honesty. We are now very much at a crossroads and the next few weeks will tell us if we have any chance of ever returning to the big table under Woodward and the Glazers. In some way Ole and the staff have done their job, hopefully with a trophy to come. It is very much over to Woodward now. He’s shown little in the past to be confident but perhaps he can score the open goal in Sancho and suprise us with another good player or two.
We remain to be convinced however.

I so want ole to succeed but something in the back of mine says he's not the man.
But, again, whoever the manager is he needs the fucking backing!!! And not just 150m worth, he needs to be able to spend 200+ in one window

He needs to be backed or sacked (and then the new manager backed) IMO. I can't see him doing better, or even as well as, this next season without serious investment. I still have big question marks over him personally, but can't deny third place in the league is a good result there. I'd love to win the Europa regardless, he deserves a trophy no matter what. I can't see him going now though, CL football is more than enough for Woowar and his cunt pals. The big fear is that this lot stay tired due to the lack of pre-season, there isn't enough investment, and we sink like a stone next year (maybe similar to Arsenal). That is a giant risk IMO, and Sancho alone won't fix it - we'd need four or five to prevent it. |
