Me: We need to be concentrating on trophies. Winning matters. Don’t play weakened sides in the cups. Try and win everything. Also (2020, no signings) me: Ya know, all things considered, I’d have blown this off. I wouldn’t have played anyone remotely close to the first team tonight bc we’re gonna be so thin that we can’t afford to add extra miles on players we’re gonna need in the league/EC/FAC. First time ever I’ve felt like this. It’s understandable. I don’t know how much longer I can get excited over us winning the League Cup if we’re so far behind in the league.

Why does Ighalo still play for us? Because he costs us £180k a week.

Why does Ighalo still play for us? What is the point of playing Lingard?

Glad I missed this match as well when I keep reading that 3-0 was very flattering. Made me chuckle when BBC Sport said Luton had had 70% possession for the last 10 minutes at one point. As Ole said in his pre match presser though, it was going to be a tricky game.
Out of interest, was Bailly decent enough for us to never see Lindelof again?

It wasn't great again, side clearly lacks direction,we are one trick ponies, lets sit back, even Luton sussed it. Why Woodward/OGS didn't go for Thiago has to be up there with Moyes decision to not sign him,we lack a someone that can pass a ball forward with purpose continually for 90 mins, however there was some crumbs of comfort. Henderson did what you would expect a top keeper to do when he has largely nothing to do all game,by still concentrating & making an important save. Bailly needs a run of games but should start Vs Brighton, far more pace than Lindelof. Williams offers more than Shaw.DVB always looked like he was able to find space & the more game time he gets,he better he will become. Mata does what Mata does. Rashford will hopefully get some confidence from a goal. Greenwood is wasted out wide & should be told that he is in competition directly with Martial for the 9,I think we would see an even sharper more focused Mason then. Not bothered listening or reading what OGS had to say after the game, assume it was much of his usual bluff. Sorry but I don't think Williams is good enough just now...he may improve and he might be better at RB but I wouldn't want to rely on him as out first choice LB...

With you on that but think he has more to offer than Shaw I still prefer him at LB...at least he is left footed and doesn't have to cut back 99% of the time before crossing... But we should definitely be aiming higher...the Shaw we bought isn't the same as the one we have now...

Why does Ighalo still play for us? Just be thankful we didn’t sign Josh King. That’s worth 180 grand a week alone.

Why does Ighalo still play for us? What is the point of playing Lingard? To prove to Jose he's still fit!

Against a championship side. Still, Lindelof has done enough to convince me that Bailly is the better player, brainfarts included.

We laboured a little, but our class showed, their keeper made some smart stops. I think had the clinching goals happened 20/25 mins, no one would say it was a flattering scoreline, maybe if we'd got 5...

It just looked like a pre season friendly too, Me always looked in control of the game, it was just a pretty boring watch, we still look way short on match fitness tho

Decent stats from Eric tonight. He and Foley are the best natural defenders in the first team. You “had” me there, for a second😂
