Cavani is def more Zlatan than Falcao. And let's see- this season's batshit crazy enough that he may be a bit RVP as well. But I'm not doing that to myself. Yet.
Pleased to see Tony get his goal. When he tripped over his own feet with the earlier chance, I thought "here we go again".
Rashford is 23. I have to keep reminding myself of that, because he still has a tendency to waste really good chances. However, his ceiling is really high, and players can stick around at the highest level for much longer now (see Zlatan, Cavani, Ronaldo, etc.) so I still think he can be genuinely world class.
Missed the first 25 mins which was apparently our best phase. But I'll give them credit for weathering the inevitable storm and staying in it long enough for the class to shine through.

One of our best performances in a good while. Maguire looks a different player with the security net of someone with pace along side him. Long term maybe Axel could be that man if hr could stay fit. Peace,Love & Merry Christmas one & all!

We looked far less likely to concede from corners with Axel and Henderson in the team.

We could’ve won this game by a more comfortable margin but overall great performance. I know it’s only the league cup but we must stop city from winning this 4 years in a row. This was the first trophy pep won, which started their period of domestic dominance, so beating them and winning it would mean something.
I know it’s a different time and era but I remember the 2006 league cup win for us. We had got knocked out of the group stages in the champions league and were under intense scrutiny that season. We won the league cup that year and I remember our rivals mocking us and the way our young players Ronaldo and Rooney celebrated the win. It ended up being an important win and helped form the foundation of the next title winning team. Winning this will go a long way in helping get rid of the “bottler” label our squad seems stuck with after 3 SF losses.

Just wish Axel and Bailly would stay fit. Easily our two best CB's. Honestly think they would sort out a lot of our defensive issues out.

Just wish Axel and Bailly would stay fit. Easily our two best CB's. Honestly think they would sort out a lot of our defensive issues out. Bailly is strong, quick, good on the ball and brave but I do worry about his defensive awareness. I think he’s almost become a better player by not playing. Having said that, none of our other CB’s are renowned for their awareness either, so that doesn’t rule him out as being our best! I like Axel a lot though, if he can stay fit he’s going to be a really good player.

Axel probably is our best CB.

Axel probably is our best CB. Been saying it for a while...here’s something else which I know will be seen as madness but I reckon TFM could be decent as a CB... I really think he is best suited to DM and a lot here don’t appear to rate him but I don’t think he has been given a chance... I would be interested in any other opinions...
