Start the year as we mean to go on. Wouldn't change much but I'd like to see Donny get a run out instead of Pogba as I'm sick of seeing his annoying, mercenary face. 10-0 and we go top. Knowing our luck we'd win 10-1

Can be very easily argued that Villa have been the team of the season so far, with their manager far and above the best of the lot. They've scored only 3 goals less than us and they've conceded 9 goals less than us.
This is going to be very, very tough.
But how can this lot not be motivated to win here? How can this group of players not give a 150% considering a win gives us joint lead at the top. My focus will be squarely on Maguire - this is THE game where a captain would step up.

That's why Bruno will step up.

Cant find the Cavani thread so ill mention this here as its relevant to this match. He's been banned for 3 matches due to THAT post. se la vie, lets hope it wont knock the momentum. Edit: i missed this being posted in the General United thread.

Villa have 5 away clean sheets. They will present a much stiffer challenge than Wolves. Cautiously optimistic we get the 3 points but it will be a close and cagey game. 2-1 to us.

I’ve just looked at the table for the first time in ages and it’s actually mental. So many things:
- For all the talk of us being title contenders, we’re only four points ahead of Southampton in ninth.
- We’re one point better off than Everton, both on 15 games played.
- If City win their two games in hand (14 played vs. 16) they’re a point off Liverpool.
- Villa themselves are four points off us with a game in hand, as are City.
The narrative around this season is incredibly fragile. It’s going to be a rollercoaster for ages. If we’re talking about the title that’s one thing, and winning our game in hand (whilst also winning our other games) would give us some more breathing room, but if we’re in the title conversation (and I guess we have to be as things stand) then so are four or five other teams as well, if not more.

Some people are getting giddy because it's Christmas and usually if you are involved with the title at Christmas, you're in the race. Casually forgetting/ignoring that by this stage of the calender the season is usually five games older and more than halfway played.

And Bruno is inevitable.

Mate, I’m guessing you’ve probably never gone for an impromptu pint on a Tuesday evening that finished up on a Thursday lunchtime. When things go back to normal you should try it. Live a little, make some memories.
