I remember Castles saying last year one of the major problems with our transfers (and there are a lot to choose from) was this need to be seen to ‘win’ each transfer, which supposedly comes from Woodward. Instead of getting the thing done efficiently, there has to be posturing and wheeling and dealing, in order to prove how we’re not a soft touch. It’s ironic because you could argue that bar Bruno, we’ve fucking lost just about every transfer that little rat has been involved in. Not even the Bruno transfer can be counted as a win. They were briefing at the end of the summer window we didn't want to sign him because he gave the ball away too much.

Part of me believes that's the case, we could of signed him in the summer yet waited for some strange reason. The Sancho deal should be done by now, personal terms have been agreed if the press are to be believed. I'm sure Sancho would like it to be concluded so he can focus fully on the Euros.

The club actively distanced themselves from the links the previous summer only to sign him up when we were looking like Solskjaer‘a Cardiff . There is no strategy. All posturing and reactionary.

apparently another bid of 25 million euros has gone in. Based on what he offers, age and length of contract i think that's a fair move and we should not bid more regardless of the value they have for him. If he wants to move he should hand in a request and let them know he wants to leave. Let's be honest I can't see us coming in for him again if it doesn't happen this summer.

I have come around to Trippier. He's gone over to Madrid, taken the chance on a bigger challenge than, for example, just going to an Everton or Leicester and won La Liga. I think he would probably be the overall best RB at the club if we signed him.
But not for those numbers (unless Ole says we need a new RB and it has to be Trippier). Makes me question why we would even bother. If there was a realistic possibility of sub-20 million quid getting it done then okay, but what the hell are we playing at it we don't even know Atleti's starting number FFS?

When have ever done anything recently where you thought that was a major result or really cleverly done
I was laughing at the reports yesterday saying Ole has lost patience with martials shit attitude.
Well if that doesn't make a player more difficult to sell I don't know what could. Maybe telling the world he has leprosy
We are woolworths without the pick and mix

Isn't it weird that Phil Jones was in the squad for the last World Cup.

This might sound silly but I genuinely think we never asked how long was left on his contract. There is really no other way i can understand why we would bid so low considering he has 2 years. At 1 year that bid makes sense but at 2 then it's a non-starter If we wanted the player then you would have thought someone would have asked the gent about his existing contract before making such a silly bid.

I know Dalot is not liked by many but Im a fan, our manager clearly isnt. To be honest, I’m going to be pretty upset if we spend 30-40m on Trippier who will be 31 in September. You know his wage will be stupid and if he falls off we will struggle to move him on, and by that time he will be too old to hold value. Save the money towards a CDM. this i didn’t realise tripper was that old and 40 million would be madness unless we have unlimited money(which we don’t) 20 million tops

Aren't we looking to low ball them as come the end of June Trippier becomes subject to La Liga's foreign player ruling so Atleti might have to sell on this basis and there for may accept a lower offer? if that's the case then it's not a bad move, i don't see us paying €40m for him whatever happens.

I had seen that in regards to new rules, but don't fully understand it. Clubs always have a way with these things. I think the revised bid should be the ceiling of what we do whichever way. Good deal for all parties concerned.

I'd be pretty happy getting Trippier for £20-£25M. At that price wouldn't have a massive impact on the rest of our business as he can cover both flanks so we can sell Telles for a similar amount. And I don't think we should expect to get him on the cheap as he has two years left on his contract and has really matured as a player under Simeone. And if we refuse to upgrade our pedestrian midfield then having a more attacking alternative to AWB could really come in handy much the same way that Shaw has been a beast for us on the left flank.

Moving telles on and getting trippier in will solve nothing
