If only there were performances like this more often. We rode our luck defensively a bit in the first 1/2. Henderson's has been a major + the last two games & deserves to keep the jersey.

Was Maguires 24th clean sheets in the Premier League since signing for Man United, no other outfield player has managed more in that time. He can be a good CB with right partner, but he is never gonna be as good as his world record price tag. No, he really can't.

Yeah I think with top 4 relatively assured we need to have a proper go at winning trophies even if it means resting key players before big cup games. There is nothing magical about 2nd place and clearly the title is well out of reach.

Woke up this morning feeling fine... We all know that it's a sticking plaster over a gapping wound but it sure is nice to be able to rock up at the office this morning & not have to avoid talking football

Thoughts after a great result.
It's beyond me how we can put in a performance like that and not kill of teams like West brom sheff United etc. We need to be able to break through the bus when it's parked by certain teams. Gut feeling is the answer is width with better wingers, plus not playing 2 defensive mids.
We need rid of martial, i know some like him but if he can perform like that one week but serve us up shit performance after shit performance for months then he is cheating us
Either he doesn't want to be here or just can't be arsed with football. I get the feeling he just isn't that arsed so he has to go we can't have players that can't be bothered.
Controversially I like slab head, he isn't the most intelligent footballer out there but put a good quick partner next to him who can stay fit then I belive he will look like a top centre back
Motivation is the key for me, they were all up for that game. But they need to be up for every game if they want to challenge. That's also down to the the manager and coaches
Just hope we can put in a similar shift over next few weeks

IIRC even pep said in his post match interview that if united learn how to beat teams who defend deep, they will become a real force. and thats pretty much it. we are a great counter attacking team but we dont seem to make any progress against the weaker sides who sit back.

That's were it comes down to ole though, always persisting with two DM. Yesterday needed the two DMS they did there job but when we set up like that against the weaker teams we just shoot our self in the foot, ole needs to be braver and play to win the game not set up to not lose as the default

Martial until the city game was in wretched form , Rashford blows hot and cold, Pogba can be that player but he is injured for most of the season or just dont give a fuck , Donny hardly did anything when given a run , Mata is injured too. Then we have a very talented 18 year old kid who hardly played before. Bruno is the only player who does it consistently but he is showing signs of fatigue. So just how are we supposed to unlock teams which defend deep.

We're a good team when our opponents don't park the bus I'll admit that.

Under Ferguson it was generally Carrick and Scholes sitting deep together, or at least one of them would play with a Fletcher/Anderson/Cleverley alongside. Both those players might have sat deep and been classed as "defensive midfielders" (in Scholes later days of course) but they were both positive footballers who looked to play on the front foot, move the ball forward and quickly. Both could move the ball from the edge of our own box to the opponents half in the blink of an eye, Scholes normally with those expansive cross field balls to set the winger or advancing full back haring off, or Carrick with a 30-40 yard slide rule pass forward into an attacking player. We don't have that now. A new deep sitting playmaker should be right up the top of our summer wish list, for me. It's one of the best and most effective ways to break through teams, as we saw just how often we were able to open up deep teams during Fergusons time. It's one of the reasons why stats can be so deceptive, Carrick would often end a season with something like 2 goals and 3 assists and you'd look at that and think "awful, what is he even doing in the team", but the amount of goals that were scored due to Carrick playing a smart accurate pass through to someone, who then provides an assist, was very high. The stat watchers would think Carrick did nothing but he was essential to the actual goal being scored.
