Based on Ole's comments (one or two changes) I think we will see 1. Rashford would be the most logical player to rest as he played little part in the first leg and is having to play through pain and is out of form. I don't think Ole will be able to resist starting Bruno and Pogba and Shaw as without them our attacking threat is greatly diminished and our defence we are bound to concede. Could also see us bringing Bailly or Matic into the team.
Taking players off at HT is too much to hope for. It will be second half of the second half.
But I am pretty much resigned to our players getting battered over the next week. I think there are two real options on the team tonight. 1. Send out a strong team, score a goal or two and then take off the main men ideally at HT. 2. Send out a weaker team, with the cavalry held back in case of some madness unfolding. Both have merit imo so it’s tricky enough. What you absolutely don’t want is Roma getting an early goal to give them a sniff.

The smart thing to do is heavy rotation with a defensive line up. Of course we know Ole won’t choose the smart option.

Rashford should not even travel for this, start with a strongish team hopefully get a goal and wind things down second half, waste loads of time just keep the ball.

Roma will go for this either for pride or because Mou is watching. We will have space and hence should start a counter attacking, technical and a quick team (read VDB, Matic - he can find forward passes, Amad - he knows Roma from Serie A, Brandon)

A nice conservative performance would be ideal, we are 4 goals up, so the games there for our forwards to pick them off on the break. They had no game at the weekend  , so they should be raring to go tonight. 3-0 to us, primarily because Roma are garbage. |

Bruno made some great comments about the europa being a psychological improvement as we didn’t win any trophies last year but it isn’t enough for a club of our stature. Really wish he’d do the pressers instead of ole. Not an ounce of United dna but totally gets what the club should be about.

That team seems about right, bar Telles for Shaw. Surely you play diallo and rest one of pogba, Cavani or Greenwood. Also AWB rest too. Heck Bruno needs a rest |

Bit too strong for me. I’d certainly have had Telles for Shaw, and probably Mata for Bruno. Maybe Williams for AWB too.
Good to see Bailly at least. Amad should be getting at least a half unless we collapse in the first one.
