This loss was down to the manager, both in the short and long term.
In the long term, his coaching staff (who he is responsible for) are utterly incapable of defensive coaching, especially at set pieces where we are consistently dreadful. He has had multiple years to notice and fix this failing and totally failed.
In the short term, everyone can see that Rashford is terrible on the right, and that he also makes Trent shit himself every time he faces him. But for some inexplicable reason he ignored this to put Pogba on the left and McTominay & Fred in the middle, when it should have been Rashford left, Pogba with McTominay, and Greenwood on the right. He then took far too long within the game to see this, failing to make the change when he should have made it no later than half time.
Really, really poor management of this game, and it cost us. Liverpool desperately need the CL money and it could be the difference between them kickstarting their rebuild or limping for another year. We've just handed them the cash they need on a silver platter.

It was part of his masterplan that Arteta, Mourinho and Lampard would be so shite as to rule Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea out of the equation this season/for half the season. Also his masterplan that Liverpool's players would utterly run themselves into the ground over the past 3 years and crash and burn this season.
Because those are the only reasons we're 2nd. This idea Ole is on an upward curve are fucking laughable. He's benefited massively from the failure of others.
Give Villareal the trophy now by the way and just get him out.
