This is what I always associate as his defining moment. That season he went from one is the best prospects to the world's best. It is an unbelievable thrill that we're going to get to see him in a United shirt again. That header is absolute perfection! I still think the season before he was more exciting, but that 07/08 season he became so much more ruthless, which is what separates good players from great.

Some of the Ronaldo talk I've seen from actual journalists is embarrassing.
There's an article in The Guardian, I won't link to it or copy the whole thing, but one part "Three years ago, Juventus paid £100m for a 33-year-old and gave him a basic salary of £26.6m a year, a deal that must rank as one of the worst in history."
Yup, 101 goals in 134 games, at a rate of a goal ever 1.33 games. And that's one of the worst in history.
Another one, I think it was The Guardian too, said he's clearly waning, not the player he was. This just weeks after he top scored at the Euro's and ended last season with 36 goals in 44 games, that's 6 goals more in the same amount of games as Lukaku, the guy who seemingly ensures Chelsea will win everything this season he's so incredible and unstoppable.
Both articles use as evidence the fact that Juve didn't win the league last season. Oh, didn't you all hear? That had nothing to do with Pirlo, it was all, 100% down to Ronaldo. He is entirely to blame for Juventus having a bad season.
If any other club had signed a striker who in just the last two seasons in Italy scored 36 and 37 goals there would be a national wank-a-thon, but apparently this is United messing up, signing a washed up former super star who will add nothing.

Just as an edit on the above, the "Why are United signing Ronaldo" article also says that whilst Ronaldo will bring goals, that's not what United need as they were the 2nd top scorers last season.
That was massively skewed by the 15 goals in 2 games against Southampton and Leeds.
Again, it conveniently ignores the following:
Chelsea 0-0 Arsenal 0-1 Man City 0-0 Sheff Utd 1-2 Arsenal 0-0 West Brom 1-1 Chelsea 0-0 Palace 0-0 Leeds 0-0 Fulham 1-1
That's 3 goals in 10 games. Does anyone think a fit and firing Ronaldo in the team for those games, and they still finish the same? Put Ronaldo in the team for those matches, and instead of 8 points, it's probably more like 18-20, which put United in the title hunt right up to the last day.

It feels good to be hated again doesn't it?

Had Juventus won the CL during his time, you wouldn't be reading this shit. His numbers are still amazing, yes he's 36 and eventually he will go south but i don't see it on the horizon yet.

Well I had a lump in my throat. It got me thinking about my dad who we lost 4 years ago, he adored Ronnie and always maintained he was the best he’d ever seen, and he’d seen quite a few. Him being back at the club again would have made him so excited.
