you know what your getting with McTom. he's limited with the ball, but you need players like him in the team. especially when going to away grounds, or when your going to have a physical game. he will never take a backwards step and he will fly into every challenge. i really like him as player. of course we need players with high quality as well but hes the one to set the tone for the rest of team when it comes to putting in a tackle Shouldn’t be starting if we want to improve, same with Fred.

You actually tried to make a point by comparing Scott McTominay to those players? Glazers have done a proper number on you. Totally missing the point. I’ll use other examples. Milner, Henderson, Barry, fletcher. Someone to get stuck into players when you need to. Of course we need players with better quality it’s no secret. But players like mctomminay are useful over a season. You can’t have a team full of nice footballers and he will give absolute maximum commitment every game. Unlike some players we have. Got to give credit where it’s due Agree. He should only be a squad player, but he can play a role for the team. Ferguson picked similar players in the centre of midfield on occasion, from Alan Smith, to John O'Shea, to Phil Neville, to Darren Fletcher. Not every week, but they came and played their part. None of them had the talent of Keane, Scholes or Robson; or Ince, Carrick, Butt and Hargreaves either. But they didn't complaint, didn't expect or demand regular footballer, followed instructions to the letter, knew their role and did their bit. McTominay could do similar.

Darren Fletcher was an infinitely better footballer than Nicky Butt. Grief! But yes, we can all agree Scott is a limited footballer. But everyone seems to miss the point im trying to make, whether by misreading my posts or wholesale ignoring me, because they’re not willing to give credit when due. But this board has crucified this squad for being mentally weak. We go to Leeds. An always incredibly hostile crowd. The lad has stored up today. Drawn blood, stick his foot in and stood up to be counted against a physical and up for side and fan base. Why people can’t give him a ‘well done’ post, I can’t even fathom. Have some joy in today ffs.

Have some joy in today ffs. I'm not not giving him credit. I'm agreeing with Caino that he can play a role, others have still basically had a pop at him not being good enough for us; I disagree and say he is but in a squad role. I agree with you that players should be given credit when they've played well, we're all quick to criticize so only fair we give credit too. And respectfully disagree on Fletcher/Butt. I think Butt was a much better player than given credit for, and Fletcher is maybe romanticized a bit because of his illness and missing a Champions League final unfairly. Fletcher was decent enough, but Butt was a very good midfielder. Each to their own though.

Scott played much better when Fred came on.
Which is ironic.

Imaging beating your rivals 4-2 at their ground, doing the double over them with a combined scored of 9-3 and being angry that we won.
Avoid Twitter.
