Sounds like they need to regain an element of control over their Flags & Banners. Dear Sirs,
Since the strategic review of Manchester United was announced on 22 November 2022, the loyal supporters of Manchester United have read about how various consortium, groups, private investors have all led the chase to take over our great club. We’ve all waited with bated breath to see if new owners who hold the same kind of love and affection Jimmy Murphy held, would finally arrive.
Either that or owners who appreciate that they won’t necessarily garner a return on investment to which you’ve taken, or ones who understand that elite level sport means spending big to remain elite, whether that be on facilities, player recruitment, best in class in all sporting departments, leadership and so forth, and done so without crippling the company balance sheet in the process.
Indeed, on Friday 28 April 2023, third and final bids to purchase or at least, take a controlling interest in Manchester United were to be submitted to Raine, who are conducting this process on your behalf. According to reports, only a Qatari bid and one from Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group were forthcoming in that nature. Which is the better bid for the club? No one knows, but we need to know.
We have seen over the last few weeks how a lack of investment has started to impact results on the field, most notably, the lack of goals being scored. But as the squad is paper thin with quality due to either poor recruitment under your tenure, or a lack of funds being made available in January of this year, the much-coveted place in Champions League football for the season of 2023/24, no longer looks a certainty.
Erik Ten Hag has quite possibly become the most important hire since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, and he is starting to show signs of bridging that gap between results on the field and obviously trophies in the cabinet come the end of a season. What’s stopping him taking the side forward to greater success? Investment, and real investment which is tangible in quality on the field.
As the manager does not know who will be in charge come the start of the new transfer window, which coincidentally begins on 10 June 2023, don’t you believe it is incumbent upon you as majority shareholders and executive directors, to come clean with your intentions. The manager needs to have clarity around his role and what investment he will have to take Manchester United forward.
Manchester United fans now deserve clarity on the strategic review. The manager deserves clarity on the strategic review. Both the Qatari and Sir Jim Ratcliffe bids deserve clarity on the strategic review. The stadium of Old Trafford needs massive investment, so only clarity as to whether you will remain as majority shareholders and owners, will give planners, architects, and construction companies the clarity they need to advance. It's now time for you to stop treating fans, employees of the club and stakeholders alike with contempt. Manchester United deserves better.
Mr Joel and Mr Avram Glazer, we now call on you to provide the clarity we all need.
Is Manchester United now being sold to a new owner, and who is that owner? Or have you decided to remain in situ with new investment coming in? If so, who is providing that investment? In our opinion it is better for all parties if conversations with new owners are now actively being pursued, and you leave, with a full sale of your controlling interest but clarity needs to be given this week. It is time for a reset, it is time to end this farce so we can all move on. Leaving the fanbase, players, club and all its employees in limbo any longer is not acceptable. We demand a new dawn. A new beginning for our club. We demand liberation.
Mr Glazers, only you can provide clarity to a situation which is descending into a farce, so we ask for you to provide an update which everyone involved in this process can move forward with.
We look forward to an immediate update from you. This letter is being sent to Richard Arnold via email as that is the most expedient way of getting an immediate update.
