Thing is Pep’s first season was one where we saw his arrogance and stubbornness, the money then helped him through. ETH cannot afford an arrogant season. He has to smell the coffee! This was a season where he needed to bring stability and the basics back. Martinez should have been blooded in slowly, he has coke from the Dutch league and it’s not like he was outstanding there and every club saw it and wanted him. He needs time to get used to the premier league especially in defence and especially playing with the leagues worst CB. Fred is no DM, offers no protection or passing ability, why play him? Shaw is pathetic, why was he there? It’s the silly choices that started the mess yesterday, then no subs in 35 mins when we are getting ripped. His advisors can fume all they want. They need to tell their man to wake up and smell the coffee. Start briefing he isn’t being backed if that’s the case albeit I’d argue from what we have seen he is driving the recruitment bar negotiations of contracts. Also tell their guy he needs to drop some players fast Agree but Tbf pep's first season was a complete transformation for city, you could see clearly the direction they were going in with regards to style of play the 2nd season proves that.also Pep's team was pre-built with him in mind over a few years(serious planning) and the money was always going to be there. We also have the money and have spent it on the wrong players consistently. If we had any sort of planning we would not be in the position we find ourselves in today. At this point it doesn't serve the club to start winning games..we need to lose until complete and utter brand collapse becomes a massive threat under glazer ownership.only then might things change. They were getting pressed and making mistakes and giving goals away too! He got a whole new ball playing defense and a new ball playing sweeper keeper. The coaching is one thing, but Guardiola has always had the players to play that way Barca, Bayern and City and it was not plain sailing for him at the start, but he obviously had a board and director 10 times better than we have! We just can't play that way at all and there's a reason Dave is 3rd/4th choice for Spain.

But we are full of players who can’t do what they are being asked to do. They are incapable of the basics. Can’t see how ETH turns it around other then playing like a bottom of the table club happy to get enough points to stave off relegation. Channel his inner Big Sam

Sorry but the players are incapable so as a manager when you are negotiating your contract you simply say 'get rid of x,y,z at any cost if you want me to sign'
ETH has to carry a portion of blame for this, the ultimate responsibility lays with the owners and players because they are lazy wastes that care about nothing but money.
Murtough has to carry blame because he cannot sell or buy. Arnold has to carry blame because he has not sacked Murtough.
ETH has to protect himself, insist on departures as priority or you walk. There are some serious duds in that team. dalot can't defend to save his life, it's embarrassing!

Channel his inner Big Sam But it's the problem with every coach they change and bring in! You bring in Van Gaal and you should know the style of play you're going to get and the type of players, then they throw him out and bring in Mourinho. Fair enough, but he needs different players to a completely different style and then they override his needs and don't back him. Then they make a rash decision on Solskjaer and again a different style and lack of experienced coaching(play deep on the break one trick for 3 years) and new poor players and then rip that up and start again with a manager who wants to play possession football with the wrong players. We've also lost Pogba, Cavani, Lingard, Greenwood , Mata and Matic as well as others, but they were key players not so long ago and haven't replaced them! We're left with the worst squad we have had since the 80's They let go Solskjaer, so they could plan for this season and beyond with a new coach 8 months ago! There isn't a coach in the universe who could compete at the top playing that type of football with these players Maybe people are right and ETH needs to be more aggressive in calling these clowns out, but this was always going to be 6/7 players in this year and 4 next year before we can compete! We don't have the structure or the owners willing to make the changes or spend, but this year they have really fucked it!

Short term cheap thinking of buying past it strikers the last 5 years has also come home to roost! instead of investing in top younger strikers( they cost too much)
That's why you end up with the new coach starting having to play false 9's.

personally i am all for building from the back. Defence and a cdm should have been priority at all costs. you then get clever freebies like Eriksen and dybala.
Our market approach has been poor. we really needed 2 cb's, rb and Lb. If we have a real operator then money would have come from the sales of AWB, Williams, Telles, lindelof, Bailly and Jones contract being ripped to shreds. You'd also take the hit on that Oaf maguire.

People will just have to get used to the fact that for anything to change drastically there will be an element of uncertainty when we're trying to evolve. There's only so many things a new manager can do with the same old players he's being left with. I'm sick to fucking death of throwing a manager under the bus purely based on two games. Off the field, from what I'm seeing of the training, he's definitely trying. BUT...you need the players to take some responsibility. The board have not invested a penny of their own money. AT ALL. They've REINVESTED THE CLUBS OWN MONEY whilst pocketing a pretty buck. It's painfully obvious to anyone with fully functioning eyes that ETH is trying something different off the field. THINGS.JUST.TAKE.TIME...
We're only two games in we're not fucking relegated yet ffs.

Whilst you are right , throwing ETH under the bus isn’t the answer... You have seen our ‘negotiating’ team haven’t you? At the rate they operate it’s going to take years to move those players on...and don’t forget the Glazers can stop any moves in or out so fucking Maguire isn’t going anywhere soon because we stupidly spaffed £80 million on the oaf... Yes maybe Erik should walk but maybe he is up for the huge challenge... It’s all down to the leeches so getting rid of them has to be the priority... It always should have been btw...

I don't honestly care what Erik is up for. He isn't Jesus and he will not turn this wretched lot of cunts into actual football players. If he isn't pushing for at least 3 or 4 players before the end of the window and he doesn't walk when he inevitably doesn't get them, he's done and cooked. This bunch of oxygen thieves will ensure his demise and I would hope that he is smart enough to see that. We are also not getting rid of the Glazers. Short of government interference they will not leave. Fans keep filling up the stadium, buying megastore merch, why would they leave? They're making money hand over fist they literally don't need to give a shit.
