As well as Shaw benched, this must be the end of Maguire and Lindelof and obviously McFred. Unfortunately McFred happened again tonight . Needs flushing out. 🤢 Get what you’re saying and agree. But it was the right change at the time, imo.

When ETH dropped his bomb, did that melt of a presenter send “apologies to anyone watching who may have been offended” schtick? Has to. OFCOM regulations.

Interesting how history often rhymes. Louis was also really good in the big games. And Rashford obviously broke into the team as CF under Louis.
Of course Liverpool are having a hangover after a very long and tiring season chasing the quadruple and they haven't been able to refresh their ageing squad and they also have had a terrible start to the season.
But it was a great team performance and it must really boost confidence and belief.
Very notable that Maguire and Ronaldo were missing.
Maguire is an easy one. He doesn't get into the team ahead of Martinez and a fit Varane. And will probably get phased out over the course of the season. I can see Erik is taking the Ralf approach of using the need to rest/fitness as an excuse. Remains to be seen if Erik has the balls to drop Maguire for a prolonged period of time. But he has to make Martinez look good given the £50m outlay and Martinez looks twice the player with Varane alongside him.
Ronaldo is a trickier one. As Erik noted he needs to fit Ronaldo into his system. But we wouldn't have been able to play the way we played last night with Ronaldo up top. Still Ronaldo is an incredible pro and will take Keane's advice on board to do what it takes to get back into the team.

Even though both where past their best LVG and Jose won us trophies(that’s what top managers do) ole and moyes didn’t(that’s what average to shit managers do) ETH will win us trophies as long as the club give him what he wants.

Klopp doesn’t know how we won. Well, we scored two and you scored one and you were shit.

Without jinxing too much hopefully, this Liverpool side needs a pretty big overhaul IMO and it looks unlikely FSG will give it. The only reason I can think that Klopp would play Henderson and Milner together is to make a Jose-esque signal to the board that he needs a midfielder.
That run last season was as impressive as it was annoying, but they need to replace half a dozen key players in the next three windows and that's much easier said than done.

I was a year early on them last season. They have an ageing team and lost their best player in Mane. They'll still turn out to be City's main challengers IMO but I think they'll be some way behind come the end and I see them continuing to regress over the next few years.

Nunez, Jota, Tiago and Matip were not available and Fabinho (not fully fit?) didn’t start. They’re still miles ahead of all the rest bar City

Top team performance tonight. Really happy for ETH, hope players can build on this. You get Casemiro a world class dance partner, a Rb and a forward and we should really be rock n rolling consistently
