Nunez, Jota, Tiago and Matip were not available and Fabinho (not fully fit?) didn’t start. They’re still miles ahead of all the rest bar City Their race is run.

Only squeezed one covid title out as well Don't forget that they nearly won the quadruple aswell. Apparently there's a trophy for that.

Not to bring the mood down, but Liverpool still managed 70% possession last night and that's just not ETH football. That's where Casemiro should be making an impact. McTominay wasn't bad last night, but that gulf in quality will hopefully see us dominate more games. We won by working incredibly hard and it feels like ages ago since we last put in a shift like that. Erik dragging the players in for that 13km run may have been a masterstroke.

Was definitely a massive improvement with fitness and effort. Need to build on it now or last night was for nothing. The bar for these players has been set. Let's see if they have it in them to continue improving. Would still like to see us getting another striker in before the end of the window.

Top team performance tonight. Really happy for ETH, hope players can build on this. You get Casemiro a world class dance partner, a Rb and a forward and we should really be rock n rolling consistently id say we still need 4 in rb is priority number 1 another CB as varane is hit and miss fitness wise. Upgrades on both martial and rashford after that we will be good to go as long as we sign at least one top player every season.

I think this was the most I enjoyed a game of football in over a year.

It takes time to press the way Liverpool do. We ain't there yet and Erik had to get some kind of positive result last night and he played accordingly. For 20 minutes at the start, we showed quality but they just couldn't maintain it. When they scored, i worried that we might collapse again but they dug in and its been so long since they showed that kind of character. The biggest positive for me, was who he left out.

I wouldn't read too much into that possession stat. Even Carragher mentioned that we were so much better than them that it made it look like those stats weren't that lopsided. We went 1-0 up against one of the best sides in Europe over the last few years, they were bound to come back into it and dominate the ball at some point but they created so little. They had way more shots than us too but so many of them were pot-shots. They were largely clueless and even for the goal there was a good bit of fortune. Didn't used to like these types of stats but starting to appreciate them more because I'm big into looking at similar types of stats in golf, but we also had a comfortably higher xG than them despite them having all of that possession. Basic numbers like possession stats etc, just don't always tell the full story. Do think the true test of any progress will come against the smaller sides though, we've always known we're a half decent side when playing on the counter is part of our plan but the same issues exist of how we perform coming up against teams who basically try and do that to us.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm not arsed about the possession thing really. We just need to dominate more against the bigger teams. In contrast, we had more possession in our first 2 games and got zero points for it.

Read the last 18 pages of pregame & match commentary on here and my word some of you are fucking depressive as fuck to start with.
I'd take any win over this lot and fucking run with it. Great game but you could tell we were starting to flag towards the end. Malacia & Martinez were just brilliant tonight and Martinez was my MOTM.

Don’t forget that yesterday the match itself was only half the story and it was a great win with some top performances but the other half of the story has to continue and succeeded if we are to have more great nights along with trophies on top. I would have took the loss last night if it speeds up those cunts from Florida fucking off.
