Why, because 'he doesn't press'? So what. Set aside that he can press, we need to score goals. Ronaldo will do that when given chances. It's grand to say 'this is how ten Hag wants to play' but there has to be an element of realism and the art of the possible. Say we wanted to be a long ball team - if everyone was five feet tall and the goalkeeper was six feet should we pick the tallest player in the squad to play up front? Implementing a style of football is great - I am all for it. But I value winning more. And Ronaldo is an elite resource to do that. He's finished the sooner we all move on the better Finished, aye. Finished like he was at Madrid in 2015? Like Zlatan, Sanchez, or Mourinho who have all left this club to go on to win trophies - League or European titles were finished? Or Ancelotti when he couldn't get blood out of a Toffee? Sometimes it isn't individuals it's the shitshow around them. We are improving, seemingly, under ten Hag but it isn't exactly 4-0 wins every week. Second bottom in the league for crosses. Sixth bottom for men in the box. Definitely the prolific striker's fault we don't score enough. He's finished. |

The whole thing is frustrating as fuck. I think we have played very well and have looked really good in MF and Defense, which were the worst areas for us for a long time. We can't finish for shit and we are not getting enough out of the front players especially Sancho and Rashford at the moment is one of the worst 9's in the PL. His positioning is improving and he is getting in behind them. That's probably because he is playing 9, so he is focused on those runs and getting into position, but his touch is inconsistent and his finishing is crap and most of those have been literally one on one with the keeper! I don't know if he can improve that by playing there and gaining more experience or confidence, but doesn't look like it.
I don't know what's happening with Ronaldo, but it's likely he's off after the WC. We should be in the market for a striker of some sort, doesn't have to be the main target in January! I thinks this Jan window makes more sense than usual, because of the urgency and most of the season is now being played after the WC.
My guess is they will not do anything and wait for Martial to be fit! Good luck with that
Also losing Varane is a shit show and will make this run into the WC that much harder. He has been excellent and without him makes it harder to dominate that high press and makes us more vulnerable in the air to these teams coming up! It's all about poor planning and no plan b from those above.

Goal difference means absolutely fuck all unless you're on level points with another team, which we're not, so it doesn't matter. Good job there isn't a goal difference trophy eh. |

We're not getting a world class striker with at least a few years left on the clock. Those days are over for a while at least and not under these owners.
We need to be aggressive in getting an upcoming talent and another good savvy striker mid/.late twenties. There's a dozen strikers we could get who would have taken most of those chances, that we spurned in the last 3 games alone. We needed a wicked deflection to finally score against Spurs and that header Rashford missed against Newcastle, meat and drink for a half decent striker.
It's impossible to win anything or mount a serious challenge, with what we have in that area up front at the moment!
I hope he proves me wrong and scores a load of goals in the next 4 games!
