4 points behind City . Imagine if we had some real strikers. That Chelsea away game instantly springs to mind. Piece of piss.

Another point.
If the club hadn’t pissed about and got our signings before preseason, ETH could have had them settled and I don’t think we would have lost those first 2 games either.

“Grit and Determination “ as someone once said on MOTD A win is a win ,is a win ,and it’s good to be in the top four ,it will be extremely interesting to see where we end up, and with whom? Happy new year y’all 🥳

After a great start it’s safe to say Antony isn’t exactly smashing it. Should we be worried or do we have to take into consideration the WC ?

Think he needs a full season those types of players coming in from abroad always seem to take a little time to settle, I think he improves with time but also as the squad improves too.

Think he's allowed some time for now but he'll need to start showing more quickly. Not sure if being reliant on one foot will hold him back though in a league like ours though. He's clearly a skillfully talented player so hopefully he'll show more of what he's capable of.

Almost the end of the year and while we are getting the results you can see the same troublesome signs.
Martial has been very poor despite effectively getting a second pre-season missing the World Cup staying injury free and playing some friendlies. Shame because start of the season he looked very lively and clinical but it is clear he cannot be relied upon.
Bruno has quickly recaptured his pre-World Cup form. Oh how nice it would be to have Felix to bring on when Bruno isn't firing.
Eriksen looked tired and it is worrying we have no real alternatives in midfield that would allow us to manage his gametime to keep him fresh.
Antony looks very raw and while hindsight is 20/20 splashing 100m euros on him in the summer when for that money we could have got a proper striker seems foolish.
Garnacho is a great prospect but I think he is better used as an impact sub this season. But of course we will be forced to overuse him this season because Rashford is our best option as number 9 and Sancho is clearly in some kind of depressive funk.
Malacia again got roasted by a decent winger.
And while we managed to grind out a 1-0 win we will face better opposition than Wolves and not always manage to keep a clean sheet and it still looks like goals are going to be a problem with Rashford the only one looking likely to score these days.

Just watched the goal again, didn’t realize how strong Rash was to stay on his feet when his arm was being tugged. I wonder if VAR would given a penalty if the goal hadn’t resulted?

I wonder if VAR would given a penalty if the goal hadn’t resulted? aye, thats one of the things that i saw with him as well, being strong and staying on his feet in those situations. would never compare him to mbappe as that guy is on a different level, but thats what i like about mbappe. defenders try to tackle him but he tries to stay on his feet and continue his dribbling. lets hope marcus continues this run of form.

Rasher looks physically bigger recently and seems to have put some muscle on, he showed real power brushing challenges off for the goal.

Just watching the game back on MOTD, Marcus was absolutely brilliant ,that extra bit of kip obviously did him good 😂 Also ,on Martial ,he was (for me) absolutely infuriating ,and I’d love to bet that had he been where Marcus was for his goal, he’d have fallen over and injured his bloody knee!
