If he picks the same team and formation we’ll concede chances and goals. Son in particular won’t pass up the chances the Wolves lad did. The only problem is I don’t see what he can do to fix midfield bar bring in Scott. Garnacho was dreadful but I’d stick with him as Sancho has had dozens of chances.

We don’t have a front man not even the Horse, Rashford can’t play there and clearly hates it, Martial can’t be arsed and the lad we bought is injured, wonderful.

I think we’ll see Mount start from the left. Idea being he’ll support the midfield from there. I would assume Eriksen then comes into the centre with Casemiro at the expense of Garnacho. He can’t start Mount and Bruno together against these. |

Thinking about the paucity of options we have in CM, I also remembered how many games Case missed last year through suspension and how we struggled during those times. I’m really interested in seeing what the plan is for when that occurs again inevitably.

My worry is that even with the couple of suspensions Casemiro played over FIFTY games last season. That isn't sustainable and he will burn out (if he hasn't already). And how that will manifest is that the rare bad games he has will become more frequent and the match winning performances we enjoyed last season will also become rarer. And there simply isn't anyone else around who can pick up the slack.
And there clearly isn't a plan. We've sold Fred. Scotty is poor as a CDM and will be even worse if we start playing from the back.
As with last season Erik won't rotate until absolutely forced to do so and we will probably run out of steam early next year or injuries to key players will derail our season.
Bottom line is our squad is still paper thin and not equipped to play 50 games a season.
While our first XI will be more balanced with a proper number 9 (albeit it an incredibly inexperienced one) that will be partly offset by the issues we are going to have fitting Bruno and Mount into the same midfield as well as the likelihood that Casemiro won't be as good as he was last season as his age starts to show. Can’t be worse than the Wolves shitshow. I can’t believe I’m saying this but would prefer Sancho to start and then bring Garnacho on for impact in the second half. Also need to figure out what to do with Mount very quickly, the non-existent midfield from last time can’t be repeated.
