Didn’t think so cos it’s irrelevant. He's not afraid of a forward pass when it's on...he's one of the few (if only) England players that does it... That’s the thing init, it’s about the right choice of pass. Because if you’re too far the other way, you’re Bruno and then you get slagged for creating 250 chances per season but not passing sideways enough. It also doesn’t show how many times he keeps possession through being calm when others lose it or make a poor choice to try and break the lines when it’s not on. He often carries the ball forward himself towards the edge of the area, he’s done it numerous times in this tournament. Which is just a different way of moving forward other than playing a pass which again might not be on or might be intercepted. Or, as has been the case in this tournament, a player gets the ball and nobody shows for them as an option. Can’t pass it forwards then. Football is just weird as now it’s a big social media thing. It’s tribalism isn’t it. “Player x is shite and manager x is shite because player y who plays for the club that I support should be playing instead of player x”. |

Yeah but those people don't understand football at all. I remember everyone saying La Masia would ensure Barcelona dominate for years. Those people didn't realise just how rare and miraculous it was to have Messi, Iniesta, Pique and Busquets all coming through together. Two of those players can be put alongside the greats. |

What the hell was that goal from Yamal. Kid is amazing. Its not just the skills of the kid , he plays like a veteran in that he is composed and does the right thing every time instead trying to pull off some crazy skill and trying to score on his own. Rashford could learn a thing or two watching him. Totally, after the game Rodri said he congratulated him not only for the goal but all the tracking back and unglamorous stuff he did for the whole game. Generational talent is a cliche I hate, but if anyone deserves it it’s him. And Kobbie. |
