I'd rather be good but it's a fair point. If England have anything it's togetherness and abit of mental toughness and that alone can get you out of sticky situations. The Dutch are very beatable and it'll be alot like the Swiss game in my opinion. Hard to look past Spain, its not a vintage Spanish side but they're by far the best team in this tournament. Ironic this considering Spain helped implement the boring as fuck, robotic style of football that everyone is trying to play these days. But they’re the only side playing with any freedom and creativity. The lads out wide are great fun. I would argue that Pep is at fault for that.

Media too has a role in creating this narrative of 'more passing and building from the back means better football'. Teams playing this way or even attempting to play like that are also given a free pass even they get relegated.

There's more than one way of playing. That brand of football neutered German football. Their game used to be fast flowing counter attacking football and that's pretty much all gone.

Schweinsteiger said the same thing recently in an interview.

These commentators making out this game is summat really special, good game but Christ don’t over do it, there were some group games that were end to end just as good

Spain have been the best side in the tournament by a country mile.
If England do manage to get to the final their forward line will tear our defence a new arsehole.

Why were they banging on like Navas hasn’t been playing at right back for the thick end of a decade?
He left City in 2017 I think. He’d been playing right back for them for about two years then. Spain have taken him as a back up right back.
Commentators acting like he’d never played the position before. Micah Richards doing a full analysis of him at half time. Brother, he’s played more games at right back than you did and to a miles higher standard.
I feel like I barely watch football anymore. I mean, I definitely do, but nowhere near as much as I did ten years ago. Yet these people who are fucking paid to watch the sport know jack shit about it outside of whatever happened in the season just gone.

What the hell was that goal from Yamal. Kid is amazing. Its not just the skills of the kid , he plays like a veteran in that he is composed and does the right thing every time instead trying to pull off some crazy skill and trying to score on his own. Rashford could learn a thing or two watching him.

And some clueless fuckers said he shouldn’t even be in the squad. There’s some absolute doyles online banging on about none of his passes being forward and all that. Did anyone ever count how many of Xavi’s passes went forwards? No? Didn’t think so cos it’s irrelevant.
