Not sacking him after the FA Cup is a level of amateur which should embarrass Ratcliffe to his very core. This manager has been done since March. I wouldn’t have sacked him the day after but a week or two later at the very latest Any authority he had was hanging on by a thread anyway, and that’s before they spent months deciding whether or not to keep him on. The players have come back either thinking “fuck sake another season of this bloke” or the ones who have his back will be thinking it’s only a matter of time anyway.

What will it take to get him sacked you reckon?
For him to properly drop Rashford.
Thought we didnt want him dropped last week?

Also not the most popular opinion here but i dont think we should move casemiro just yet, its clear this manager and his tactics are the issue.

A real loss if he’s injured again 🤣 Not expecting a Terry Butcher like recovery. Or in fact hoping for one

I think at this point it is just a question of how much evidence we need before we can pull the trigger.
We've been outplayed by Liverpool and Tottenham.
We've been inconsistent against midtable teams beating Fulham, drawing with Crystal Palace, and losing to Brighton.
And we've only convincingly beaten relegation fodder such as Southampton and lower league opposition in Barnsley.
So basically all the hallmarks of a team that is destined for the Europa Conference League.
I can see Erik getting another few months to turn things around but it is really hard not to draw the conclusion that he is a big part of the problem.
INEOS spent £200m this summer and they spent it well and our defence has been upgraded and we've got a quality CDM. So we shouldn't be shipping three goals against Tottenham.
We've got young players coming through such as Garnacho and Mainoo that any manager would be lucky to have. Bruno and Rashford have always been inconsistent but the manager signed off on them both getting bumper new contracts and has to get more out of them. We've had no worse luck with injuries than any other club this season. And most of the players have been coached by Erik for years (especially when you consider he keeps signing former players) so there shouldn't be any gap in understanding what Erik wants from them.
Erik got a reprieve because with top 4 out of reach he was able to use the final league games as a dress rehearsal for the FA Cup final and Manchester City underestimated us.
But I have seen no evidence that he has learnt from the near-death experience and the football is still chaotic and there is no evidence of any kind of plan.
And when you look at other clubs within months or even weeks managers can stamp their mark over the team. Look at Ange last season. Slot and Maresca this season. You can at least see the difference the manager is making. But with Erik there doesn't seem to be any kind of overarching style. Just some inconsistent attempts to press and huge gaps in midfield and hoping that someone like Bruno or Garnacho or Eriksen will do something special.

But you can in fact have wrong opinions. For example i thought Rashford would be world class.

If we sack him tomorrow, who will replace him? My fear is that Southgate is available.

Just noticed Mainoo went down when Bruno made that challenge. Didn't catch that during play.
