The only local pub near here is a good hr n a half away.....but no worries, i was in manchester in may n had the pleasure of visitin OT..man!! it was like i had come home!! i wish i cud have seen a game...but no worries..i'll get to see on ehopefully soon... anyways, some of my online frnds here knw me as Red Staid, the Devil...if ur here then hit me up!!.....n u guys can also call me as Red Staid... But this post is to say a very heartfelt hello to all my fellow Red Devil Fans. Here are the questions from the Getting Started announcement board. These should put some of your questions to rest. How long have you been a red? - Since I was 3 yrs old...since 1985!! Who's your favourite player in the current squad? - hmmm...well none wud be compared to Denis Law n Cantona, the King of OT, the past legends, but i dare say that Rooney has huge potential to be one n ronaldo, after alot of maturity, can also reach there. Ole Gunnar Solskjær, n Giggs alrdy have my heart sold out to them. But its never one player that makes the whole team. Its the team itself! Who's your favourite past player? - who else, Cantona!! One thing you wish you could tell Fergie? - If I could give you a gun, would you go n shoot Glazer, buy back all his stock n give it back to the fans?! Where did you hear about Republik of Mancunia forum? - MySpace.com.. .................. Well, here are some of my own questions for you guys. Please answer freely n without any reservations!! 1. Very old topic, but i'd still like to hear from u...Glazer: Good or Bad? 2. Does the present squad has what it takes?! 3. This is for you older fans, like me...no offence to the younger fellas, but if u have the knowledge please do answer... Which was the best manchester united squad?! 4. Why the Reds? (please dont answer that it is the best in the world n that's why i joined) Thanks for all the inputs fellas...I am looking forward to talking, n sharing United with each and everyone of you!!... C'mon You REDS!!! ....oh yeah...Gunners suck so bad that not even Playboy wud hire them!! FUCK OFF ARSEHOLSS!!

Nice intro Red Staid, welcome to the forum! As for your questions: 1. The Glazers certainly haven't put the clubs finances in the best of order but they're looking to change that by the recent re-financing of the debt so we'll see. From what I've heard from other Reds on the forum the admission prices haven't gone up anymore than they would have otherwise and the fact that OT is not as expensive as Emirates Stadium and Stamford Bridge negates the notion that it's all Glazer's doing. The lack of spending this past transfer period I think has more to do with us not being able to get the players we were after and not because of available monies but because of circumstance (i.e.Torres, Hargreaves and Diarra). I think we'll do better the upcoming transfer periods. 2. I think the present squad has what it takes though there have been some questionable matches where we didn't look to strong from the outset. We have what it takes because in most of those cases we were able to turn it around to get the result, the best example of that being the match against Benfica. The loss against that small club in London was a tough one to watch... 3. Well for me the squad of 91 was great because it really spelled the beginning of our future success, and an honorable mention to the squad of 96 who no one thought would win anything (sound familiar?) but the squad of 99 is the winner for me because each time they lifted a trophy it was a brilliant sporting moment for me. 4. A friend of mine in college was from Salford and a die hard Red. His uncle used to get matches on satellite so we'd watch them at his home in New Jersey and I just was taken by the passion and energy they showed for United. Once I started going to a United supporters pub in NYC and sharing that with even more Reds there was no turning back.

Welcome to the forum or should I say namashkaar if your first post is anything to go by you should contribute some good comments. here's my answers to your questions: 1. It's too early to tell really whether Glazer is good or bad for united, there have been none of the dramatic changes that some of us feared and it doesn't seem he's tightened the purse strings too much. So far he's supported Fergie when he's wanted a player (although we've also made a fair bit too from sales so his outlay has been minimal) and it seems he's willing to spend money to make money in terms of improving the squad. If I'd had the choice of course I would have preferred he hadn't taken over but lets face it when your team's a PLC your open to that risk and at least Glazer seems interested in the long term future of the club rather than short term frivolity that could end up ruining the club *cough* Chelski *cough* and his interests are really no different then the major shareholders before him. Only the long term will really tell what effect he and his family has on the club but for now things seem ok. 2. The current squad is a definate improvement on last season with long terms absentees back, Carrick in the middle and Ronaldo and Rooney getting better every year, add to that the seeming weakening of Chelski over the summer then we should have a shot a the prem. Personally I think we're going to need a lot of luck to end the season as champions because the depth of the squad just isn't quite there (especially in midfield) and I think in the long run we may suffer a bit from it, a good defensive mid would go a long way in helping. There are definatley things to be positive about with our current batch but there are also some pretty obvious improvements that can be made so we're just going to have to keep our fingers crossed throughout the season and see where we end up. 3. Seen as though I'm only 21 I'm guessing this question isnt really aimed at me seen as though most of the teams I've known in my lifetime were superb but I doubt there are many teams throughout our history that matched the likes of the 94, 96 or 99 teams apart from maybe Busby's teams 4. Why a red, well I ask you why the hell not ;D ? It's come through the family with me as they're from manchester and supporting united came down from my grandad to dad to me. I used to live in Droylsden when I was younger and now I live Oldham which is a about a hour away from Manchester.

Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy posting here. 1. The Glazers have yet to do anything wrong, they're merely business men trying to make money, which fits in with United being a business trying to do the same. In an ideal world, sure we wouldn't be owned by some random American business tycoon, however the world is rarely ideal and we could be far worse off. I have no time for people who would rather boo the Glazers than cheer the team. 2. The present squad is a good squad, have they got what it takes to do what though? They can win the league, sure, but we need to stay as injury free as possible. We might not have the width of Chelsea, but we sure as hell have the talent and determination... well except for Rio when he's having one of his nap, but it's not easy being a little boy in a grown ups world. 3. United have had many good teams, just as they have had many good managers. The had a great team when they first earned recognition as a football team, when we became Manchester United and stopped being known as Newton Heath, Under Busby may he rest in Peace, and under Sir Alex we have had several good teams. You cannot compare the different teams from the different eras though, football has changed too much and is still everchanging. 4. I started supporting United having watched them on tv, losing I might add. I was 6 at the time. Of course, mum says I started supporting them just to spite my family who supports the dippers, of course that would have made me one hell of a smart six year old.

Redom..ur not that young dude..am 23 myself..c'mon!! n missunited...u were definately a smart 6 yr old!!.. CHEERS!! #cheers# well here are the answers to my own questions: 1. Very old topic, but i'd still like to hear from u...Glazer: Good or Bad? - I think bad cuz i knw how the way they've treated their teams here n i'd hate that to happn to us...but i also knw that the Reds r their biggest venture yet, n knwin that they'r suckers for profit, they just might be able to prove me wrong! (and I hope that is the case!) 2. Does the present squad has what it takes?! - Yes and No. The squad needs a lil bit more strength, but has the ability to take down the freaks in blue (read chelski)...i think one or two new players (mainly in the defence n the mid) wud help the team alot! I am looking forward to the transfer window!! 3. This is for you older fans, like me...no offence to the younger fellas, but if u have the knowledge please do answer... Which was the best manchester united squad?! - Yeah i'll have to say the 99 team along with 96 n ofcourse the busby babes!! i just pray to God that their kickin butt in the heaven's premier league!! 4. Why the Reds? (please dont answer that it is the best in the world n that's why i joined) - My uncle...that's why!!..lol...he had just witnessed Reds playin in '83 in OT, n he was immediately won over. next 2 yrs he made me watch the games on satellite tv (very expensive at that time in india..n yeah i was only 3)..n i saw the team win again in '85!!...n WOOT WOOT i was a RED DEVIL FAN!!..haha..but yeah that's my story guys...thnx for the welcome...now lets kick some butt!! #rock#

hey Red Yank (if I may call you that)..whr in the city r u?...i lived in Queens for a while b4 livin in manhattan for a few...been to CBGBs?? I'm an Uptown kid....born and bred in Washington Heights, Manhattan. I now live in Inwood which is the northern tip of Manhattan just north of Washington Heights. Where abouts in Queens did you live? Oh and being that you lived in Queens and are Indian, do you think Jackson Diner is the best Indian restaurant in NYC? Assuming you've been there of course... I spent a lot of time at CBGBs in the mid to late 80s and early 90s especially for the punk shows. The whole East Village scene was still pretty raw back then, unlike the strip mall that it's become now.

It got sorted so they're still here.
