Hi everyone!
My name is Valerie. I'm 24 years old, and I'm from Las Vegas, NV. I've been a member for a few months, but have been too chicken to post until now.
I have only been a fan of football for roughly a year. While visiting Europe last summer, I noticed how there were all these crazy fans wherever I went (England, France, Italy), and I thought how exciting the sport must be seeing as how it could unite so many people. The closest thing I can think of over here is college football (NFL style), which I also like.
Not knowing very much about it, I came back to the states, and started talking about my new-found appreciation for "soccer" and the good looking players with one of my friends husband, and he said I must have a crush on Cristiano Ronaldo. I didn't even know who he was, so he made me look him up, and (sorry and embarrassed to say), that is how I became a Red Devils fan. I didn't even know how good he was until I started watching the games.
Anyway, my affections for Manchester United run a little bit deeper than how they began, and I have enjoyed watching us win the title, and reading all your posts along the way. Thanks for the entertainment.
My favorite players: C. Ronaldo, P. Evra, and N. Vidic.
Favorite moments of last season: beating Roma 7-1, beating Middlesbrough three times (I hate them!), Fulham away, Liverpool away, reading all the Nemanja Vidic jokes
Least favorite moments of last season: Losing to West Ham...twice (I hate them, too), there are more but my post is already long enough
Thanks for reading.

Nice intro Valerie, nice that you finally decided to post. It's always interesting to read how people outside of Manchester started supporting United. Look forward to reading your views and if there's anything I can help you with feel free to reach out to any of the mods. Oh, and hope it's drier in Nevada than it is in New York....it's pouring over here!

It's 9:20 at night and currently 92 degrees Fahrenheit outside. I would trade you rain for heat any day. During the summer, the temperatures can be as high as 115.

Welcome aboard Valerie!! I am glad you decided to post finally. I know what you mean about the temp, LA is almost as bad as Vegas...went there in the desert for a project a couple of weeks ago and I was sweating within the hour. As for how you became a Red Devil, well it doesn't matter at all...what matters is how deep your feelings run and as far as I can see, they run pretty deep. So cheers on and keep supporting. Oh and dont be shy askin questions about anything. #welcome# P.S. - Are you living in Vegas city or around it?

Thanks for all the warm greetings.
As for where I live in Las Vegas, I don't live next to the casinos, if that is what you are wondering. =) I live in the Northeast part, near Sunrise Mountain, Lake Mead, the mormon temple, and Nellis Air Force Base. What part of LA are you from? I went to college out there, and so am familiar with the area.
As for other questions I have...(though I'm probably asking these in the wrong place) is there a site that explains the offsides rule (or the rules of football) well? Also, how can you raise your tactical awareness of what is going on in the game? During the matches, they don't have some half-time show where they break the "plays" down for you, so it makes it hard to understand the game. What do you do during the off-season to fill all that time you have left over? And lastly, how do I change the picture of Michael Carrick next to my name?

There are no sites that come to mind but I'm sure if you Google what you're looking for you'll find plenty out there. 2. There's always some football competition going on somewhere so I watch those and pull for whichever team I fancy out of those involved. The Argentinian and Mexican leagues always seem to be going so I sometime follow those, but Copa America will be going on this summer (in which the US is involved) and that I'll follow closely. Also, the Euro qualifiers will be played here and there as well. There is no off season in football! ;D 3. You can change your avatar by using the following path: Profile (button is on thetop right of the main RoM page) / Modify Profile / Avatar (drop down menu to select the image you like). If you need more help let me know!

The right man already answered your questions...well most of them This is a site that might help you get a grasp of the offside rule: www.offside-ref.co.uk/As for LA, I live in Diamond Bar (right next to where 57 and 60 meet). I work in LA City though. I went to the Community College of Southern Nevada to see the site and evaulte it a few weeks ago...so I am guessing that I went in your neighboring area...
