I'd hate us to have Mourinho. I really dont like the fella. Can you imagine if we got knocked out of Europe and he was blaming it on the English press? Or one of our players committed foul of the season and be blamed the ban on Sky Sports? It'd be embarrassing.
Lets see how Hughes does at Blackburn next year. I'd love him to come back.

right lets get this straight, there are people on here calling for fergies head, after in spite of all this seasons problems he has won us a cup and taken us to the brink of 2nd place, he has got us a points tally that in most other seasons would have won us the league, he has also massively delayed the chelsea title party which was a done deal at xmas...supposedly. all this dispite the fact that chelsea have been throwing cash around that no other club, not even united, will ever be able to throw around. on top of that people are suggesting that mourinho, sparky and mcclaren replace him, now considering mourinho is an embarrasment to football, vastly over-rated and just a general prick, hughes is yet to win any silverware and mcclaren has just taken the england job, that seems a bit silly to say the least. people are sighting all his judgement flaws as reasons to get rid, the main cases being using the 433/451 tactics, signing veron, selling beckham, stam and keane, and the midfield situation thats developed. lets just look at his judgement on these with realism. he switched the tactic to the more european style for one reason, to do better in europe, because that is what the fans were demanding, ok it didnt work but he was listening to what the fans wanted and attempted to do it, he could only try and when it didnt work he went back to 442, ie he acknowledged his own mistake and rectified it. as or signing veron, can i just remind everyone that when he signed veron no one was complaining it was seen as a sign of the clubs ambition and seen as a great sign of things to come because he was a world class player, ok so he didnt work out in english football, guess what all signings carry risk and no manager in the worl has got the power to look into the future. as for selling becks and stam, well scott put it plain and simple and i cant really add to it, other than to just point out that beckham was playing with only half as much effort for united as he was for england and considering we paid his wages that was unacceptable. as for keane, well keane had been past his best for ages, he was injured and was clearly gonna leave at the end of the season, so in essence we didnt miss out on him for too many games, besides, he came out and slagged all the players off what do you expect, do you really want the manager to say "ok keano good on you just go ahead and destroy the team morale", im sorry and i know hes a legend but keano deserved to go. as for the midfield situation we have jsut had disastrous luck im afraid, fergie has signed the following: a world class midfielder for a record 28million fee, a world cup winner and a highly rated young star and all have flopped, ok not ideal but i dont think you can blame fergie these things happen. fergie is turning things around big time, without a midfield he has won us a trophy and took us to the brink of 2nd place, imagine what we'll be like with a midfield!
one day yes i know hell go and it will only be the 2nd manager in my lifetime and certainly the only manager ive ever known, and i cant imagine fergie not being manager, but when he does leave then the job should go to capello with hughes as his assistant for a couple of years until hes ready to take over, unless hughes has done enough to prove he really is ready. either that or id love to see neil warnock in charge, ok i know hes not got premiership experience yet but hes a top man manager and his passion and hunger are second only to fergies.
BUT GET ONE THING CLEAR FERGIE SHOULD DECIDE WHEN FERGIE GOES AND NO ONE ELSE.

he's fucked it up on a number of occasions this season, i will be sad to see him go, but his time is soon and it is almost time to hand us over to someone else! for me...sparky mark hughes would be the man to step in!

SAF has had a great run, and like Scott, is the only United manager I've known so it will be interesting to see what the future of United will be without him at the helm. O'Neill would be an alright choice though the SPL is not quite the EPL. Hiddink would be a really good choice because if his success and broad experience.

Could not have put it any better myself ( apart from the Neil Warnock bit ) All those calling for Fergie's head should seriously hang their heads in utter shame - you will all be singing his name agian WHEN we win yet another trophy next season. Sir Alex is a national institution and NO ONE, NO ONE is anywhere near qualified to question him! This is a man who has delivered; The treble and 2 doubles amongst countless other trophies, and people want him out

Manchester United is a football club for the fans, not a retirement home for fading managers and players. fergie himself knows what he should be doing yet is failing, for the good of the club he should step aside or be sacked. Whether that is the end of this season (not likely) or the end of next. As i remember rightly a certain club now loitering in the championship won two European cups in 79 and 80, and in honour to the manager allowed itself to be turned into a retirement home for his benefit and the sentiment of the fans. I reckon that the fans of that club now wish that he had gone earlier than he did or that their club’s board had showed some backbone and sacked him before the end.

Ferguson will have wanted to go in 2003, i think. But now he's committed to creating another great team. But let's get one thing straight, Ferguson has not become a worse manager, nor has he become a better manager. 80+ points would have been enough for us to win the Premiership a few years ago. If our points tally had have won us the league this year nobody would be questioning Fergie's job. But Chelsea have raised the bar to 90+ points and seeing as Fergie is our manager, its up to him to get us to that next level. If he can't do that (been 2 seasons already) then we should get someone in that can.
Like i said on another board, you can't dare to suggest Ferguson retire gracefully without the rallying army of kittens saying "how dare you insult such a great, legendary man!".
