Looking at Ruud over the past few weeks and games that he's featured in he looks very unhappy to me.
I agree, i think he's leaving.

Atletico Madrid have offered striker Fernando Torres to Manchester United - but want £14 million plus Ruud van Nistelrooy in exchange. (Daily Star)
Laughed at it this morning, but after Ruud's behaviour it does sound interesting...

i'm not sure where Ruud will end up ,but why do we need to buy another striker? We have Saha, Rooney, and Rossi. Yes none of those are prolific goal scorers like Ruud ,but we have never seen Rooney with a solid midfield allowing him to worry more about scoring goals. I know he likes to play behind the main striker ,but with saha who has bagged a few goals, why do we need another world class goal scorer? I think if we get those two mid field players, Fergie should just buy another saha like striker. What do you all think?

A few months back, after he was left out for the Cup final, I thought the decission was justified due to Saha's performances in that competition. For the weeks following I was desperate to see Ruud in the start lining up....... now though? Hmm, we win 4-0 at Old Trafford, which equals our biggest win of the season, and we do it without Ruud.
I've been fed up with attitude over the past couple of weeks, and if he does go, as surprised as I am in myself for feeling this way, I wont be gutted.
Bring in Gudjohnsen I say!

We beat a Charlton side who knew that it was the last match for their manager after 15 years, a Charlton side who had injuries, so I wasn’t surprised to see us go out and win 4 – 0, with or without Ruud.
If Ruud goes (which is very likely) even with Saha, we need another striker, Rossi isn’t proven in the first team yet, so we can’t bank on him being prolific and I personally think he’ll become a Scholes type player, playing just off the front men and I can’t see Ole being around much longer. Though as stated in previous threads, I’m more concerned over our midfield situation

Thing is we need Ruud for the big games. The rest can do the job against the lesser opposition but for big games you need big players.
No doubt Ruud's form has been shite since Ferguson left him out, not before. Because he was scoring plenty until the Cup final. And since then his heart hasn't been in it. If he started thinking he was above the team, fair enough, put him in his place. But is it just me or is leaving him out of most games (apart from when Saha was injured) from the Cup final onwards a bit cynacle? You're asking for trouble when a big player, who is hunted by other big clubs every summer, is consistently on the subs bench. Fair enough, make a point, but you can do so in less dramatic fashion. All i wanna know is whether he's going or not so we can start looking for a replacement. Guess we'll have to wait for a press release.

But Ruud hasnt been there really for the big games this season. He didnt show up in Europe, he didnt show up against Liverpool in the Cup, he didnt show up against Chelsea last week, he didnt show up against Arsenal a couple of weeks back... in fact, which big games has he had an impact on for us this season?

I disagree that he hasn't shown up in big games this season. Since the Carling Cup final his performances have been worth fuck all.
And you can't dismiss a player based on a few average performances in one season, when in previous seasons he's been our leading goalscorer by a mile.
Getting rid of Ruud will only be a positive thing if he is adequately replaced. And if he is a disturbance in the dressing room then you have to determine whether it was before or after he was consistently left out of the team. If it was before, then fair dos, put him in his place. But if his lacklustre performances were due to being omitted from the team for what appears to be little to no reason, then unless he is adequately replaced then people are gonna blame Ferguson.

But we're talking about this season, and I cant think of a single big game he's shown up for, can you? Definately in his prime, he was one you could rely on...but if we cant rely on him to at least TRY and convert a penalty that will rap up 2nd place for us, I dont really feel like I trust the guy so much anymore.
And I hope this doesnt turn in to blaming Ferguson. The blame here lands on Ruud's shoulders, for having such a poor attitude. He believed he shouldnt HAVE to work for his 1st team place, and when returning to the squad after being dropped, he's looked like he could care less. No one is bigger than this club, and Fergie makes the decissions that best suit the team. He starts our last 3 games, 2 of them against bottom half of the table teams and home, and he doesnt score and misses a penalty...he gets dropped, and we win 4-0. Go figure.

He believed he shouldnt HAVE to work for his 1st team place, Did he have the poor attitude before or after he was dropped? He'd scored 21 goals. He'd tell you he'd EARNED his place in the side and you can't really argue with 21 goals. Most of our big games naturally came at the end of the season when he couldn't be arsed. Sunderland, Tottenham, Arsenal, Bolton, Liverpool etc. Granted he didn't score against Chelsea at Old Trafford or Benfica but when he plays he causes defensive no end of problems by drifting offside. He's a constant thread. He can have a shit game and still score. That's undeniable. Would you rather play against Saha or Ruud? Saha every time for me. But then turning up in the big games is a matter of opinion because you could argue that many of United's great players haven't turned up this season. What you can't argue with is Ruud's 20+ goals. It's just bizarre that he's leaving.

No, the Liverpool game at Anfield, where was he? The Arsenal game at Highbury? Any of the games in Europe? The big tough games of the season havent just come after the Carling Cup final.
Saha was in great form, and he deserved the Cup final. He had something to do with everyone of those 4 goals scored. How often could the same be said of Ruud? Saha deserved a chance in the team... and Ruud should have thought "Right, I'm better than him, and I'm going to earn my place back" but instead of that, he's been sulking.
Ridiculous, as you say, that someone who's scored so many goals for us this season looks like they're on their way, but it's his attitude that has cost him place at United, no Fergie, Saha, Carlos, or anyone else.

No, perhaps his attitude was brought on by the actions of Ferguson? Saha has an impact in those games because he's more of a playmaker. He drops deep and gets involved. Ruud rarely does that. He's the type of striker that sits on the goal line. He's only scored 1 goal from outside the box this season. Ruud makes an impact by scoring, simple. Rather then be a part of moves like Saha, he finishes them. And i'd take a consistent goalscorer over a striker like Saha every time. Where was was Giggs in the Liverpool game at Old Trafford? Apart from his cross, what else did he do? What about Gaz? Rio's fuck up? What about the 3-0 at Chelsea? 0-0 against Arsenal at Old Trafford? Where were they against Sunderland? Where has Saha been for the last 2 years? In the pyshio room getting treatment. You can't argue with Saha's form. He was excellent in the Cup final. No doubt with the quality players around him we can demolish the Charlton's of this world, but what about the big games? What about Europe? We still don't know. And if Ferguson had complete faith in the Glassman then why's he trying to sign Torres?

Who says hes trying to sign Torre? Thats just specualtion. Key is midfield.
Despite 20 odd goals ita been apoor season for RVN. Hes looked a LOT slower than of old & cant trouble defences one on one anymore.
His record speaks for itself but his attitude hasnt been great lately & he does look slow, thats undeniable. Furthermore the team seems to be playing better without him.
If he goes I wont complain too much, it has not been a brilliant season for him despite a good record. Maybes its time.
Certainly not SAFs fault if he leaves.
