From Sky Sports:
"[As for van Nistelrooy], there have been a couple of issues during the week which concerned me in terms of the spirit at the club. It was such an important day but I felt Ruud should be left out. It's straightforward and all I need to say, at the moment.
"I'll be discussing it with the club directors tomorrow and Tuesday and that's it. We're going to discuss the whole thing - that's important."

Ruud is out. I've been thinking it since the league cup final, but i think he deserves to be sold in the summer if he is going to just leave before the final match of the season. tsk tsk Ruud you should be ashamed leaving your teammates. have fun in milan or spain wherever the hell you end up i hope the weather is nice. bcuz you'll never find a club bigger than United

We just won 4-0 after poor form with Ruud in the starting lineup...why do you think Saha isnt good enough. Wasnt that 15 goals in 13 starts for Saha today? And 7 league goals in 12 league starts?

Put it this way:
Saha is a better footballer than Ruud. However if we only had one chance in a MUST WIN game, I'd rather it fell to Ruud than Louis!

We can score goals without Ruud, with the likes of Wayne, Louis, etc. It’s our midfield I’m more concerned about, our engine. As good a player Ryan is, and has been playing this season, he won’t be around much longer. Paul still has some years in him which I’m happy about, but I’d still like our midfield strengthening.

Agreed, we can score goals with the likes of Rooney and Saha in the team. It's the midfield area that has to be addressed.
We've had an ageing Giggs in there with John O'Shea who's basically a back-four player playing out of position.

We do need four first team forwards though - Rooney and Saha with Rossi in his first season just won't be enough.
I'm disappointed to lose Ruud, and he's gonna leave a big hole which Rossi isn't big enough to fill yet.
If Rooney picks up an injury which puts him out for 6 weeks, we'll struggle with Saha and Rossi.

You can't compare Ruud to Saha. For a start they're both different players but Ruud has had 5 years at United where he's scored 20+ goals each season. Saha hasn't had chance to prove himself yet.
If you ask me then i think we need a Ruud-type player in the side. A clever goal poacher who sits on the goal line. Saha is more technically gifted and has pace but for a striker its goals that count, especially goals in the big games. And with Rooney in your side, who drops deep and makes things happen, a player like Ruud who will sit on the goal line is perfect. But meh, i hope Saha can do the job cuz it doesn't look like we're gonna have the cash to shell out for a striker as well as 2 midfieilders.

Ruud has scored a load of goals this season, and all credit to him, but I think it's about time we changed our style. Over the past few months, we've seen the big difference in how we play with Ruud on the field, and how we play with Saha. It's so much more exciting with Saha around. Ruud contributes very little elsewhere, and although it has proved to be important having a poacher...without decent crossers on the wings (lets be honest, Park and Ronaldo have very little to be desired when it comes to that area of their game) maybe it'll be better without Ruud.
Players just charging in to the box, slick one touch passing, and so much pace the opposition wont know what to do.

Well it's been comming, you can't say otherwise, and we were going to lose him eventually anyway he's 30 already! I think we play more free flowing football with Saha in the team anyway. Yeah we'll miss Ruud but times change, teams change, so onwards and upwards!
The strikers we have left won't be enough for next season, it'll beinteresting to see if/who Ferge brings in.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it?
Especially when you need 2 world class midfielders and apparantly only have £25 million a season to get them with.

Never thought it was gonna happen.
I thought missing out on the Carling Cup final was fare and Ruud went along with it as for missing games at the end of the season I thought it had been agreed Ruud would miss them for us to play the likes of Rossi and Saha and for him to be fully fit for the World Cup and now this........I for one am quite shocked at this and YES we will need one of the top strikers in Europe to replace him but that costs MONEY
