Reading Scott's blog, I can't help but notice the similarities between Keano and Ruud. Now whatever the truth about the rumours of both, we've all got to accept that both players were an important part of Utd. I can't help feeling tho that both WERE is the important word.
Now there's no doubt that strikers do not appreciate selfish wingers. Especially selfish strikers!! And Denis Law would say the same thing about Bestie. Ronaldo is NOT the finished article but, hopefully, will improve. Ruud will not get any better and may even be showing signs of decline already. So if it comes to a choice - and I'm sure there's a lot of truth in the Irish rumour about CR and CQ - my brain says CR even though my heart says Ruud.
Read what Scott says about missing Keano. Or more precisely about no longer missing him. And think Ruud. No doubt that the best football we've played has been with Saha up front. It doesn't matter not having the deadliest strikers when you create 29 chances like we did against Newcastle. And that's the way we've always played. Not like the Scousers who need deadly strikers because they ony create 29 chances a season. We've ALWAYS had Sunderland matches when we couldn't hit the cow's a--e with a banjo.
So the club will survive and, I believe, actually prosper without Ruud. I for one will miss him - and I don't think there'll be a match against PSV or whoever as a testimonial (anyway Phil Thompson talked about him going down the East Lancs Road). So here's to 2006-7 and see what happens with a midfield.

People have always questioned if certain stars were bigger than the club, Beckham etc. This is your first post and a good one at that, amen to the majority of the stuff you’ve said.

Yeah, agreed. There is a general – chat about whatever room, but this is a site for united fans and united fans only, we can chat about the past and the future until your ass is numb from the chair you’re sat on and you’ve gone through a crate of beer before you know it. The site is growing fast and will only continue to grow.

Down to Ruud to sort his attitude out, make peace with Ronaldo and knuckle down. Sheringham and Cole hated each other, look what they still achieved! An example to be followed if he stays. Here's to 2006-7 #unitedbanner#

Nice post fella.
I agree with you. Ruud of course is extremely important. Anyone who puts that many goals away for you is a season. I think one of the many difference between Ruud and Keane, is that Keane was still as passionate for us as ever when he left. He spoke out on MUTV (which I dont agree with, btw) because he still GAVE a shit. Ruud doesnt look like he does.
Half time at the testimonial yesterday 5 kids stepped up, and all of them got the ball in a bottom corner or the roof of a net. That was probably their once chance to score a goal at Old Trafford, and they made damn sure they did it. As soon as Ruud took that half arsed attempt at a penalty against Boro, questions had to be running through everyones mind.
We'll miss him, no doubt. But we dont need him. We dont need anyone.

Very good post
I can agree with the fact that we don't need Ruud but Id say we do need an out an out striker that is goin to score twenty odd goals a season.
If Ruud went then would we struggle? We can only say if it does actually happen.

Saha can easily do it, but will he remain fit all season? Rooney, well he can do anything cos he's GOD ;D and Solksjaer? He'l get no where near 20. He either stay's or get's replaced as soon as!!!

I love the way Fergie has no qualms about sorting players out. No player is bigger than our club, NO ONE! Can you even imagine a situation like Arsenals, where Henry says he's staying then changes his mind, and manager and fans tip toe round him kissing his arse because they're too scared that he'll leave? Some people begrudge Sir Alec for axing Stam, Beckham, Keane and now Ruud but Arsenals situation is the alternative, and when I've seen giants like hughes and Cantona replaced, and followed by even more succsess i'm proud of Fergie's iron fist.

It didn't look as though Chelski needed an out and out goal-scoring striker this year. Frontman yes. And half of Europe play without what we ancients would call a centre forward. I'm not sure what's in Fergie's mind, I suspect that he has something more in mind than Rossi and Saha but for the first time in about two years I feel happier about Fergie being there. I think the Keane "dismissal" was just anger but the Ruud bit looks very very calculated. It looks like he's goaded him into Sunday's actions. Ever since the "not coming on as sub at Cardiff", you could sense that something was up. The final straw was playing second fiddle to Rossi. Perhaps it's something contractual.

Only time will tell fella! Hopefully get a decision from Fergie by the end of the week about RVN's future with us

Yeh I agree Nath, I love Fergie's attitude too. We could be in the 1st Division and have Ronaldinho and he'd still be saying "No one player is bigger than this club" lol.
Saha got 15 goals in the last 13 games he played, or started, or something? I think heard that on Sky Sports. Obviously they werent all in the league, but it shows he can score plenty. Scholes back in the team as well.
This year we scored as many goals as Chelsea. Next season we'll score more!

Couldnt agree more! Cant believe his attitude spitting his dummy out like that! When you think about players like ole who have kept the bench warm for years and never complained, and never contemplated leaving, it pisses me off that some players think they're above it even when they're playing badly! We dont need petulant children at this club no matter how many goals they score in a season! He can go for me!
