we played around with formation alot this season. what formation do you think we should now play - including the options potential summer signings will offer us?

It always has to be 442 really doesnt it. Not the season just ended, but the one before, we had a really successful spell when Ruud was out and we played 433 with Giggs, Rooney and Ronaldo up front... if similar signings allowed us to play the same way, then maybe that would be worth a crack again, but I cant imagine us doing anything but 442 next season.

I dont agree with the 2nd one. We'd have NO width whatsoever if we did that. Or alternatively, Scholes, Giggs, Ronaldo and Rooney would all be stepping on each others toes.

Ronaldo and Giggs are supposed to be wider but because of the centre thing they proper compressed. I was thinking Scholes and Waz roaming with Scholes occasionally dropping back in between Ronaldo and Giggs who are on the wings.

I just think without 4 across the middle, we're likely to be easier to attack, whether thats down the wings or through the middle.

But, I'm looking at it this way, *SIGNING* is supposed to be a World-Class Defensive Midfielder, no longer Sheasy, Fletcher, etc. So with 4 defenders and 1 defensive midfielder we wouldn't be that exposed at the back. But, I do understand your concerns though, and it does all depend on who we sign in the summer.

I mean your formation would be great for attacking football... but defensively I wouldnt feel too relaxed. Maybe we would just win every game 4-3? 5-4? lol.

i'd go for 4-4-1*
depending on the team we are playing it would be a switch between gabbi and evra (sunderland etc i would go for evra coz defending is not important, any team with someone i am scared of then it is gabbi every time)
as we all know a DM is required to allow the ginga ninja to do what he does best
balls in the box from wide is a must.
*rooney allowed to go wherever he feels like at the time coz if you tell him where to play he will and you lose half of his game

Four at the back four across the middle and two up front
It's the way the game should be played
or 4-3-3 if your brave
