Does anyone else get really fecked off by our continous lack of recognition by the media. I mean right now its Chelsea who are the medias flavour of the month and ok maybe its rightly so after back to back titles (bought or not)
But not so long ago it was Arsenal, when they won the league undefeated there were labelled 'Invincible' and being regarded as possibly the best team to ever walk the earth. They were compared to 'great' teams of the past like Brazils world cup side in the Pele days and the Liverpool sides of the 80's. Or the great AC Milan and Real Madrid teams of yesteryear. Yet where were the comparisons to the United treble winning side? The only team EVER to complete a UNIQUE domestic and european treble? none were made, just as the superlatives were never splashed our way at the time.
And futher more to my point why the fuck is it, that no matter how shite their team is or how disgustingly their fans behave, the media always holds special recognition for the murdering bastards up the M62?
That more than anything really fucks me off! #furious#

Fergie summed it up not so long ago: United vs. The Media.

another thing u have to remeber...is that all the media are london based...so they would have a bias towards the london teams

It's entirely frustrating, but I think I'm used to it now. David Beckham was a devil, Wayne Rooney didnt deserve to wear an England shirt, Roy Keane was a traitor and an abondoner (after the WC) etc. The press love to write hate stories about us, because guess what, hate stories about United sell... because the country STILL obsessively hates us. The perfect example was back in Novemeber when we'd been struggling, and the press were labelling us a team in decline, ordering for Fergie to leave...... yet Arsenal were a good 3 places or so below us in the league, and nothing was mentioned! Take it with a pinch of salt. The only articles worth reading are in "Red Issue", I learnt that a long time ago

REMEMBER!: Question ''The media are saying you are a team in decline and you should step down!''..... Fergie's reply: ''That's BOLLOCKS!...we once went 15 games without a win you know'' This was on SkySports following United's 1-0 win over Chlsea last season. I love Fergie so much more than I would for moments like that!

To be fair as an Irish fan I've had to put up with this for years, England make hard work of a group they should be strolling through and the papers are full of
England edge out girl scouts under 7's in a close match 1-0 England will use this to go on and win the world cup, what a brilliant team they are, world beaters every one"
And on the same night, Ireland draw in Amsterdam putting Holland out of the qualifiers for the same competition and we don't even get a mention. I remember when England were scraping past silly teams like Poland etc while Ireland were unbeaten in like 10 games including games against France, the Czech Republic and Brazil, and yet you heard nothing.
Papers have their favourites you just gotta put up with it I fear.
(Sorry for the english media rant...)

I understand the media in England focusing their attentions more on England than Ireland..it is their own team after all. Although, that 10-match unbeaten run was something to be admired.

Lol yeh, I mean, we all LOVE the English media, so you'll really have pissed a few of us off now The following are reasons why I hate the english sporting media: 1) Tim Henman 2) The england cricket teams victory over the law of averages (i.e. they had to win the ashes eventually) becomes the biggest story ever 3) They further the stereotype that Michael Owen and Jermaine Defoe are 100+ goals a season strikers in 'good' teams 4) They hate united And: 5) They're so patronising of other 'home nations'

To be fair, if you read any decent half serious papers, in other words at least stay away from The Sun, you'll find Chelsea aint that popular. Just ask Mr "the Media made me consider leaving Chelsea" Mourinho. Truth is, papers are gonna write whichever sells, and they won't get many sales based on constantly kissing up to teams all the time. In fairness, a United fanzine can risk being too subjective towards United as a nation newspapers can be against us.
