According to The Sun:~ No mention on the Club Website.. Anyone reckon it's true? Hope he's not another one who's crossed the boss and paid the price

If there was an element of truth in it, you'd see it on manutd.com.
I'd sooner believe the club website than the Sun.

Looks like a "we pay your wages and you follow the club line" rather than a personality problem. And I agree with Utd. This club or country is a real mess. Rooney goes to Germany- plays - crocks his foot again -doesn't play till Xmas - CL cock-up and Mr Glazer's creditors send the boys round. No wonder the club don't want Rooney to play if he's not fit

No Doctor is going to let him play, if he isn’t fit. Not exactly professionalism now eh? Perhaps Alex doesn’t like the fact that Rooney might be fit, as the Doctors told him. So he’s put the boot in, to try and keep Rooney from going to the World Cup, we just don’t know what goes on behind closed doors people.
Rooney won’t be fit for the first couple of games, he will the rest. Though doesn’t he go for a final scan tomorrow to see what’s going on?

It's true that Dr. Mike Stone has departed Manchester United, but I don't think Sir Alex actually fired him. Anyhow, I'd like to thank Dr. Mike Stone for his services to United over the past 10 years, THANX PAL!

Well isn't that a load of utter bull.
So he gets sacked, but it has nothing to do with football or medical issues, makes sense doesn't it. Obviously him and someone on the board had an argument regarding which of Rio's hairstyles looks best, and when they couldn't come to an agreement the bloke got sacked.
I take it what really happened was the club was unhappy with the doctor's overly positive attitude towards Wayne's injury and his press released comments regarding his progress ahead of the world cup. Still, if that is all... It doesn't strike me as a reason to sack someone.
Unless he's been giving Wayne drugs to hurry his rehabilitation/disguise the pain/problem of the injury.

The press yet again puts pressure on a senior figure at United, in this case our Dr. Mike Stone now ex-Doctor. It is yet another chapter in the long book of United vs. The media for me!

I believe the official quote is: "Dr Stone was involved in an ongoing debate over which coffee brand should be used in the Manchester United pantry. Unfortunately his persistent approach demoralized the rest of the medical staff and as a result we no longer require his services."
