Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze came through his first piece of competitive action since suffering a serious knee injury last September.
The rampaging full back played 45 minutes for Argentina against their Under-20 side and showed no ill effects during the 4-0 win.
The contest was the last action for Argentina before they head to their training camp in Europe and coach Jose Pekerman will have been thrilled to see Heinze prove his fitness.
Heinze suffered cruciate ligament damage in a UEFA Champions League match with Villarreal last year and at the time it was feared he may miss the World Cup.
Heinze has adhered to a stringent rehabilitation programme and he was rewarded with a 45-minute run out on Wednesday.
Pekerman received a second boost during the game as Barcelona schemer Lionel Messi made his comeback from injury in the game.
Although the result mattered little, Pekerman's charges found their form after the break as Rodrigo Palacio fired home a hat-trick and Javier Saviola was also on target as they secured a 4-0 win. -------------------------------------
Good on you Gabs. It’s nice to see him get some action, after being out so long. Slowly but surely and all that; lets just hope he makes it through the World Cup, so he can carry on tearing down our left wing and throwing in dog ugly challenges.

Heinze is a fooooooooooking GEEZER and a quality buy.
Who said Fergie fails in the transfer market, people only point out his bad buys.
Id rather have Heinze then Ashley Cole and I rate Cole highly as a player

Brilliant news! I cant wait to see Heinze back fit next season. It's good timing for the World Cup really I think, because I doubt they'll be relying on him, but he should get a fair few games/sub appearances to bring up his match fitness.

Great to see him back and excellent point on fergies transfers Ned. far too many spoilt brats who expect to have it all every season. fergies brilliance has had them living in dreamland so long, they forgot what the real world tastes like.

Signings like Schemichel, Cantona, Robson, Keane, Irwin, C.Ronaldo, Ruud, Heinzé and to some extent the likes of Rossi & Piqué have been great Fergie signings.
